Hello There: Brian here: I have a problem with my machine (Emmanuel) Something was downloaded yesterday that I think was Vcodic. I ran ewido twice, had 7 infections, and cleaned them. Then ran spybot and cleaned the junk out there, and then ran adaware. I found 1 entry for a w32.trojan.downloader, but cant remember what it was. I deleted this one. Now, I still have a question mark with a red circle flashing in the system tray - how the heck can I get rid of this when subsequent scans seem negative? Here is my HJT LOG: ------------------------------ EMMANUEL HJT LOG ----------------------

I want to take a second and thank you all for your birthday well wishes! It is truly amazing that I have survived another year, and that I have grown in that year! I was able to spend Sunday with my father and stepmom and spend yesterday with my mom and stepdad. My mom planned a great dinner: Hamburgers, 3bean salad, potato salad, cake and ice cream, however, she did not plan on having her 2002 Impala begin to have problems with the Battery light and the relays. Every few minutes, they would start clicking, and the warning light would go "ding ding ding" "ding ding ding" "clickclickclick"

Dragon: I applaud you for doing what you are doing, and I will say this: You are protecting your children from something that COULD be dangerous, and let me say that it is time that parents realize the dangers associated with the Internet. The Internet is only as dangerous as you allow it to become. You, being proactive, will teach your children by example so that they learn good and appropriate surfing habits. STRICT? Naaaaaaaah - You are just being a parent - I have friends that have strict parents, and it doesn't seem that you are strict. When it comes to the safety of, or well-bein

I will have to agree with those that are agreeable to the wait for Windows Vista. I don't really see any need, want or desire right now, to upgrade XP to anything other then professional on Emmanuel, so that 2KPro can talk to XP Pro - Emmanuel running Home is kinda hard, because there are things I wish I could do with it that I cant right now - Why the heck is MS trying so darn hard to release an OS that 90% of computers running today cannot take advantage of without a major overhaul? Stupid if you ask me, the only reason to release Vista now would have been because of MS wanting people to pu

Liz: I was born in 1972 - I was just a baby when President Nixon resigned in 1974 - But I remember what it was like when we wanted to do something - we asked our parents for PERMISSION and if we didn't get it, then we would **attempt** to rebel, and we would be punished - My mom used to tan my backside, with a wooden SPOON, or slap my face if I used bad language or if I "Mouthed off" to her - and MAN - when you were punished, it meant something back then. Nowadays, you can't "discipline" a kid the way you used to because everyone would be calling Child Protection Services.....egads Yes, we h

I'm with Joe! Hoo boy, that could have been so much worse. So glad you and the house are ok! Liz Agree with Liz here - take his matches away hehehhehe That was a DANGEROUS thing you did BubbaBob, but as everyone else has stated, I am glad that you are OK - But thank GOD you had the sense to call for help - Cell phones SAVE LIVES - I was told by my uncle (a Captain - Spencer MA Volunter Fire Dept.) that if you cannot get the fire out in 3 minutes, get the hell outta there! Crazy Things that I have seen regarding fire: ONE My stepdad and my neighbor John decided one day to burn a maple t

Angie: If you are gonna use Xbox, I recommend that you look at the xbox homepage, paying particular attention to the routers that XBOX Live supports. When I went online with Verizon DSL, I asked if the Versalink 327W was capable of doing Xbox Live, and the Rep said yes - It has worked for me really well, and you can get a 3 month starter kit with the Communicator Headset, but you need a Debit OR Credit card to use during the trial - then after, it will charge the selected card for the yearly membership fee, or a monthly fee, depending on what cycle you choose. The Networking instructions are

Hmmmm...... Well, I wish I could add some fun to the mix here, but I have been waiting for "moving day" for 3 months....... See, they're gonna demolish the apartment that I currently live in, and rebuild the whole area from the ground up - Problem is that they have to continue the work on the drawings (plans) and until they are done, we have little idea as to what they are doing, so I am waiting for the "go ahead" on a couple items. See, the current setup now has 2 globe ceiling lights in place, and because I want to have a half way decent ceiling fan light in my new livingroom and bedroom ar

I'll agree with Liz here: Go CordLESS: THis way you won't have to worry about the cord being in your way, or worry that you will somehow cut or damage the cord - My mom thinks I am crazy for wanting a corded drill, but I want the power of the tool, so I don't have to recharge batteries - drill is a power hungry tool, and if I want the power, I don't wanna be monkeying around with chargers. Have Fun Brian

I used my Windows 2KPro Machine (Defiant) yesterday, and was looking for something online - I found what I needed, downloaded it, and when I rebooted, I found that I had been hijacked. It was redirecting me to some sort of porn site. When I realized this, I ran Adaware, Spybot and cleaned out what I could, but still had problems, and for some reason, MS antispyware was off, and protection was disabled by me, but I didn't realize that it did not reenable when I restarted defiant. When I reenabled MS Antispyware, it picked up CoolWWWSearch.Mysearch, and deleted it, but Spybot didn't pick th

Preston: I would go with the External drive that has the most storage for the price - Seagate's are good, I have a 8GIG in Defiant, and she works well. Of course, if you can get away with it, I would get as much storage as possible - Like a 200GIG or something - just stay away from the maxtors - they can suck ;( Take Care ...Lets hope this get you OUT of the doghouse - sucks to have the wife harping on ya Brian

It depends on which computer I am using, and it depends on the situation at hand Defiant, being my backup machine, usually stays on when I need her on my network - That way, I can do multiple things at once, and get the job done: I can then move files around with no problems. I turn off Defiant more often, because she is older, and I don't want to lose files on the drives. However, since Defiant takes forever to come up sometimes, shutting her down and restarting her can take upwards of 1 Minute and 45 seconds sometimes, so if I have her on, I leave her on until I am done, and sometimes leave

Sort answer, NO... this is illegal and pirating. No ok to do. Agreed Tony As Tony said, what you want to do is illegal, and pirating, and as far as I know, it is IMPOSSIBLE to use the key from a Win XP CD more than once per install - The Key is specific to the CD, and will need to be activated - When the activation fails, you would have to call MS and have it activated. Additionally, when MS does Validation to see if you are running a "legit copy of Windows" using that Validation Tool, it would find a problem, and say that your copy is not legitimate - XP Keys may be used to reinstall an OS
