I am not the best. I make my template as I make my template... What I really like is XML+XSL+CSS, it makes it easy to add and remove info. Plus, there are server side scripts to turn XML+XSL into XHTML, and you can also "save" the rendered page in Firefox as XHTML if you use the DOM Inspector...

I don't use Python, but I believe that is good practice (a form of commenting).

I believe it is because it is newer (and because it is not in the 1.x series)

Not XP Home as far as I can see. Why is it when I see all the security notices for apache that it is for apache 2.x instead of apache 1.x? (I run apache 1.3.33)

People Cant Join My Wc3 Games I Create On Bnet
quickbasicguru replied to blittim98's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
My DSL modem's IP address is 192.168.254.254 When I go there in your web browser, I see a screen similar to a router config page. You might have a similar setup. -
Knoppix has that option (and I have used it) I <3 my Knoppix 3.6 HD install....

Firewalls? Our DSL modem has one built in, so you could check that (if you didn't) -
It feels like it is starting to cool down already; a few more day and here it should be just history...

Problem Opening Folders
quickbasicguru replied to SDogg554's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I remember having a similar problem before. I believe I was able to fix it by editing my registry, (in the place with all the file types). I don't remember very much of how I did it though... -
Here is a pic of me: ()

Help With User Accounts [2 Problems]
quickbasicguru replied to goman87's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
When I first got my laptop, my user name was Owner, then I changed it to quickbasicguru; in my Documents and Settings folder, my profile is under Owner because that was my original name. -
I would recommend trying a live CD first, like Knoppix so you can see some of the software and get to play around with it a bit before you install your distro. You can do many things with Knoppix, you can even install it to the HD if you REALLY wanted to(not the the most newbie friendly distro when installed to the HD)....

Help With User Accounts [2 Problems]
quickbasicguru replied to goman87's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Also, if you change your orginal name, your old name will still be used for the folders... -

I found one interesting post on slashdot: Modded Hybrid Cars Get Up to 250 MPG (sorry if it was already posted) That would be nice to have with current gas prices

First in XP run the Network Settings Wizard to setup file and printer sharing. Then you would set file and printer sharing in 98 (you could make a disk to set it up at the end of the XP process, it gives you that choice) Then you can share the files and folders that you want to share. (like in XP, right click on a folder and goto sharing)

Simple, you just need server software. Apache is what I use, and the default setup is good enough for a home site. Download it, then install it. Start it up and you are serving files (just place the file in the right spot) Others can get to it by going to http://<you private IP> (like with me http://192.168.0.101) The only way someone from the internet would be able to get to it is if you forwarded the ports in your router.

How To Create A 1gig Partation
quickbasicguru replied to DarkestDream's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
QTParted is what I use, you can resize certain partitions with it (Like NTFS, FAT32 also I think) A easy way to get it is Knoppix. But with any partitioning software, back up important data just in case. (I have resize a partition once, and had no problems, but I made a back up just in case) -
What else besides XP are you going to store on it? Some people have a OS, Applications, and Backup partitions; what will your setup be?
