  1. Thanks. I typed regedit in Run and search for SpywareNo. It said it found none. However; Adaware continued to tag 8 SpywareNo ( 1 registry key and 7 values ). I kept deleting them and they kept coming back after reboot. Both A squared and MS antispyware continued to find no SpywareNo. Maybe it is hiding in a program but I don't know which one. Any more suggestions?
  2. I couldn't get rid of it. SpywareNo was resided in a registry key. I disabled system restore and booted into safemode. I ran Adaware scan and it came up clean. But when I booted in normal mode after and ran Adaware scan. SpywareNo was detected again. What is going on here? I had used Adaware to delete it many times. I also ran MSantispyware scan and it didn't find anything???????????????I don't have the SpywareNo program installed. How could that registry key be detected by Adaware? Any suggestion on how to get rid of the SpywareNo? Thanks. Edited: FP confirmed. New scan yielded no SpywareNo.
  3. If used wrong it can disable your system. I been using this program for couple of weeks, and I wanted to know what you meant by it can "disable" your system I use it but I don't use the Advance section. Also beware when you use the registry cleaner, it'll find more links from uninstalling programs. However; some of them belong to the XP system restore function. If you delete everything, it'll render your system restore points useless when you need it. I learnt that lesson well.
  4. Thanks for the info. Sound legit. I'll give it a try. Edit: I have tried the toolbar for a few hours. It works pretty good. It doesn't cause any conflict with Spoofstick that I have already had on my browser. So far, I haven't seen any ad at all. Subsequently scanning with Ad-Aware and MS antispyware program yields nothing to be concerned with. I guess this one is ok.
  5. I read about this toolbar from the PC Magazine. Does anyone use it here? How good is it? However; it admits that it contains adwares. Thanks.
  6. I'm planning to buy a laptop. Does it mean that the laptop is ready to configure to connect to the router? Or do I have to buy an adapter to insert into the slot first?
  7. I have a brand new Sony digital camera but I'm afraid to install the Sony software on my computer due to the rootkit scare. I know I'm a little paranoid. But.....
  8. I thought I tried the link tonight and it worked. Thanks!
  9. Thanks. Now I feel better and not trying to find out why this happened.
  10. I was typing an email quickly. I guessed I hit several keys at once. The computer shut itself off. No big deal, I turned it back on. Then, it said hardwares have changed significantly and had 3 days left to activate. I haven't changed anything since the day I put it together. I thought MS disables activation through the internet. But I tried it anyway and it went through. It was strange. Anyone encounters this as well?
  11. I have to turn on both my computers for them to see each other. When I just turned on either computer, it only showed one computer in the network place.
  12. Hello, Parrotgeek7 and CataclysmCow: How do I do that? I looked into the C drive and programs and didn't seem to locate them. Thanks. P.S. I still use version 5 because I have read the the new versons are no damn good.
  13. In order for the XP machine to see the shared folder on my 98 machine, I have to disable Zone Alarm firewall on 98. How much security risk is there? Both machines are behind a D-Link router. Or, anything I can do to beef up the security on the 98 machine. Thanks.
  14. I got the cable. After having read all about networking, I followed the instructions to connect the D-Link 524 to the DSL modem and the computers. I have internet access on both XP and 98. I put in the same workgroup name on both computers; however, I don't seem to see the workgoup (XP and 98 connected by ethernet cable) on either computer. On the 98 machine, it asks me for the network password on every bootup. Or do I have to turn on both machines for the network to show? Do I have to run the "Network connection wizard" on the XP? Now I'm using the XP and the 98 is off. Any comment is appreic
  15. Thanks, Pete. So, there is no need to use Networking wizard on the computers. Just follow the D-Link 524 set up wizard instructions? ...but it never asks me for the name of the workgroup.
  16. My primary computer with XP has internet connection. I like to connect my win98 machine with ethernet cable to the XP machine to share the internet through a router. Do I run the network set up from my XP or 98 computer? Or any step by step instructions? Things to watch oput for guring the set up? Thanks.
