Invalid Xp Product Id Code....
The Dragon Slayer replied to The Dragon Slayer's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Bingo! Happy ending. There is no way Windows could write anything on the install disc during previous installation. So I carefully compared what I wrote down the digits on the MS XP booklet with the digits on the jewel caes. Like you said, instead of BP7JP, I wrote down 8P7JP. Silly me, off I go to try again but I'll keep my PII at hand just in case. Thanks. -

Not even able to pass the product key step. I'll keep the activation step in my favorite. Thanks. -
Invalid Xp Product Id Code....
The Dragon Slayer replied to The Dragon Slayer's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Thanks Shanenin. I looked at the i386 folder. I had the same thing except Pid=76487oem. I'll look at your link. For now I hauled up my trusty PII-333 from my basement. It worked fine but painfully slow. -
Invalid Xp Product Id Code....
The Dragon Slayer replied to The Dragon Slayer's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
By any chance, do you have the phone number handy you can tell me? I went to Microsoft website and didn't have a clue which numbers to use. Thanks. -
Invalid Xp Product Id Code....
The Dragon Slayer replied to The Dragon Slayer's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Bought it in 2002, XP Pro sp2 from NCIX.COM when I built my system. It was the same 25 digits, same cd that came with the product key and jewel case. -
Invalid Xp Product Id Code....
The Dragon Slayer replied to The Dragon Slayer's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Yes the product key. That was the 25 digits on the xp pro jewel case and I didn't see any other 25 digits. Anymore idea? -
Since I couldn't figure out what's wrong with my computer (no post and no beeps), I bought a new MB and CPU. When I tried to install XP pro, it went to Name, Organization then Product ID code. I entered the 25 digits from the OEM version of the original XP purchase. It said code was invalid???? I was stumped. I carefully looked at the jewel case and there was the only 25 digits and it matched what I wrote down when I first built the system. I know that I have to call Microsoft to plea my case for reactivation. But... it doesn't even let me install in the first place! let alone call them! Any s

Silly me! I checked the jumper setting. The MIA DVD drive was correct at master but the slave drive was also set at master. I corrected it and hooked them up again. Both drives now show on the computer. Problem solved. Thanks. How do I edit the title? Because I want to put 'Solved" in front of it but I can't figure it out.

I hooked up two DVD drives in to the primary IDE, one as master and another one as slave. But only one drive DVD(E) is shown in the Disk Management which is the slave drive. The primary DVD drive is not working and doesn't show up anywhere. What did I miss when I hooked up the two drives??? I know the IDE cable is working because I just add a second DVD drive onto the same cable.

Adaware Se Updates
The Dragon Slayer replied to lefty1953's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I have the same problem. The workarounds on their website don't work for me except manually updating the definition file. I have since ditched the SE for I hate manual update. -
New Usb Devices Not Recognized
The Dragon Slayer replied to psyk0tic's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I don't know how recent your laptop is. Is the usb port an usb 1 or usb 2? Because on my older desktop which only has an usb 1 port, when I plug in my mp3 player which requires an usb 2 connection, the computer just keep searching and doesn't recognise my mp3 at all. Plug the mp3 in my newer computer, it recognises the mp3 as drive H in no time. Both desktops run on XP. -
New Usb Devices Not Recognized
The Dragon Slayer replied to psyk0tic's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I remembered when I installed my digital camera software, it asked you not to connect the camera to the usb port until you're prompted to do so during installation. Maybe, it was just as simple as that. Also there is a setting on my camera to set as a camera or as an usb device. Maybe you can check yours out as well. -
I've downloaded the ASPI checker just to see. None of the said drivers were installed on my XP machine. However; the CD and DVD both work.

Motherboard Question?
The Dragon Slayer replied to tman70's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I have XP pro installed on a PII, MHz with only 192 MB ram vintage computer. At first, I thought I would run into driver problems. To my surprise, everything ran perfectly, no additional drivers required! It even recognized my dot-matri printer as well as the printer on my network. Granted, I only have office xp installed for my kids to use for homework, this old computer runs just a little bit slower (a few second lag) than my newer one (P4). I would install xp home to see how fast it runs before I spend more money on that setup. -

Vista Rc2 Available For Download
The Dragon Slayer replied to shanenin's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Do I need to uninstall RC1 first before I install RC2? Thanks. -
according to the OEM license if you bought it with a pice of hardware and replace tha tpice of hardware .. then yes you lose your license.. reading here http://members.microsoft.com/partner/india...er/default.aspx would also tell you it is no longer leagal to buy an OEM version by buying just a harddrive, as an opend OEM pack can only be sold to another OEM builder that can be tracked that they did build a compleate systems that follows the OEM rules (relpace MD no license) I called MS today and got the answer that you will be directed to your OEM distribter if you replace the mother board an

Does it apply to the computer I built myself? I bought an OEM version of the XP pro. If that is the case, I'll buy retail version if I ever build a second machine.

Spywareno Keep Returning..... ( Solved )
The Dragon Slayer replied to The Dragon Slayer's topic in Malware Removal
Quote from LS SteveJ at DSLReports.com , who is a Lavasoft employee. So.... You have no reason to concern about what Ad-aware is finding.... If you were infected, you would see this item: O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [spywareNo] C:\Program Files\SpywareNo\SpywareNo.exe This object should disappear with the next update. Otherwise, you can just add it to your ignore list: 1. Run a scan with Ad-Aware 2. Select the objects you want to add to the ignore list in the Scan Summary, Critical Objects, or Negligible Objects lists on the Scanning Results screen. 3. Right click and select "Add selected to ignore lis -
Spywareno Keep Returning..... ( Solved )
The Dragon Slayer replied to The Dragon Slayer's topic in Malware Removal
Free version 1.06r1, SE1R91 08.02.2006, The up-to-date one. I'm thinking about it too. No one finds anything except Adaware such as A squared, MS antispyware, Panda online scan, PC pitstop spyware scan and webroot spy sweeper. While I'm waiting for the expert to look at my HJT log, I just scan away to see if any program can tag SpywareNo as Adaware said. -
