  1. I'm thinking to buy the D-Link 510 adapter. On the box, it says Win98se supported. Does anyone know that it works with Win98?
  2. Glad to help out. I was fooled by Microsoft too! Lesson learned.
  3. Every time I have one drink too many, I am under the table.... Can I have a ceaser in a shot glass??????????????Then I can have a few.
  4. If you have updated from the Hardware section in Window Update with C-Media driver, you'll have no sound. Roll back the driver and you have the sound back. Or, go to the link below and update your driver. http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlac97...8&Software=True It all worked out for me in the end. Except for critical updates, do not blindly accept the Software and Hardward updates. Read the details first. Since then, I go to the hardware manufacturer's site for driver updates. Forget the Window Update.
  5. I'm in the step 4 of setting up the D Link 524 wireless router. It says "please be sure to remove any PPPoE client software installed on your computers." What is the PPPoE client software? The only program I saw was BroadJump Client Foundation after I have used the setup wizard cd provided by the phone company to auto config. my computer to activate the DSL connection.(no problem here) Is the BroadJump Client Foudation the PPPoE? The bottom line is that I don't know what to remove????????????????????????? Thanks.
  6. It was my mistake. XP does recognise this drive. I thought I did format the SD card; but I didn't. Once I format the SD card twice for good measure first before I take pictures. The flash reader part of the device works.
  7. Thanks, JSKY & Mikex. I did a online scan with HouseCall and also downloaded a program to remove the W32.Jeefo. They found nothing. I searched my HD for dummy.exe and powermanager and came up nil. Now, I just deleted the NWEReboot from the startup list.
  8. Thanks, JSKY. But, I gave up on this. I probably got the NWEReboot on my startup by trying different drivers. I guess I have to use the HP software to read the SD card.
  9. Thanks for the info. I have disabled it in the startup. Pete from Tech Support tracks it down to a W32.Jeefo virus identified by Norton. I'm trying to get rid of it since my free AVG doesn't pick it up at all.
  10. Is it save to delete? I googled it but only found it associated with Dummy.exe. Every site I went to had ??? on the Recommendation or Description on this NWEReboot. What is it?
  11. Sorry to say that it is still using the Microsoft driver even after running the setup of the new download. Any ideas?
  12. I went to driver.com and Mitsumi home page to downloaded new drivers. I tried both drivers and both didn't work. Window still used the driver provided by Microsoft. As a result, I can't see any pictures from my SD card in driveE. So, do I have to uninstall the window driver first before I run the setup file from the new downloads. Or, any suggestions? Thanks.
  13. I used Seagate discwizard starter edition to load, drive is not recognised. I used the bootable XP disc, same thing happened. I loaded the SATA drive extracted from the Gigabyte driver disc. What do you mean by "wiped". How do I check the hd is spinning? The fan are noisy. Thanks.
  14. Seagate sata 120gb Gigabyte GA7VM400AMF VIA VT8237 Boot sequence: CD-SCSI-Floppy I have tried again. No luck. I have read the manual many times as well.
  15. How do I make the BIOS to recognise the SATA drive? BIOS only shows IDE1 to CD, IDE2 to DVD, then the floppy. No mention of the SATA drive. I keep stuck at "Drive not recognise" during the XP installation. I have pressed F6 to load sata driver during setup; but it still doesn't work. Any help is appreciated. I'm kind of stuck now staring at my new built computer.
  16. you want customer service. I placed an order. It came with one set of rail kit short and the plastic latch of the swing out portion of the front bezel cover of the case was broken. I emailed them. They offered to charge my credit again for the replacement part or I sent in the defective part first...etc. Never mentioned about the rail kit they short changed me. I told them no way to charge my credit card again. If they do not prepare to make good on the deficiencies, don't bother. I take my business to somebody who really cares about customer satisfaction. So, beware if you want to buy anythin
  17. All I want is to set up and use one SATA harddrive. I connect the data cable from the sata hd to SATA0 on the motherboard , use the power adapter to connect power. Install the SATA driver that come with the board. The question is that: Do I still have to go into the SATA BIOS Setting to choose raid 0 or raid 1, create array, block size, select boot array...etc as mentioned in the motherboard manual? What are those setting for? Thanks.
  18. Thank you all for your information. I know now that I can use the upgrade version.
  19. Yes. OEM version. I want to replace the harddrive and os. It's cheaper to buy upgrade version XP; but' I want to make sure that the 98 OEM disk will work. Otherwise; it'll be an expensive coaster.
  20. XP upgrade is a clean install or I have to install the old 98 first? I have the OEM 98 install disk. Does it works or I have to have the retailed version of 98? Thanks.
