  1. What's up with Spybot Search and Detroy lately? Everytime I try to update I get "bad checksum". Joe
  2. Thanks Terrorist. It was staring me right in the face and I didn't see it. I forgot to highlight "Test". Joe
  3. That's a tough one. I have enough problems with iPod and WinXP! Maybe restore the iPod and reinstall the 98 divers? You'll lose all your data though, unless you can back it up. Maybe even reinstall Anapod? I'm sure you know that Win98 does not support USB2.0. So your hub will only transfer with USB1 speeds. Good luck. Joe Hmmm.... I didn' know this: "Many USB 2.0 card manufacturers have developed USB 2.0 drivers for Win98 SE, ME and Win2000. Although, all PCI/USB cards are currently using the same NEC µPD720120GC-9EU, the drivers are by and large proprietary and only function with the bra
  4. I must be having a major brain fog, but I can't figure out how to set up scheduled scans with AVG 7 Free . I have it on two computers, both WinXP. Computer A has it to run at 4AM. But I can't find where to change the start time and don't remember how I scheduled it in the first place. Computer B won't let me schedule at all. It says scheduling is only allowed in the Pro version. What? They are both vesrsion 7 free with the latest updates. Am I missing something? Thanks, Joe
  5. "I don't know of a program that can record on a timer, but I have always used Audacity (search at download.com) to record. " Total Recorder can.
  6. Thanks jcl. I do have an older Sims game, but never found out what you are supposed to do with it. It was a P2P download, so maybe it's missing half the files. I'll check out the other ones that you mentioned. I just noticed capitaism today online. Looked interesting. Thanks for your help. Joe
  7. Thanks, but did I mention NO WAR? Thought I did.
  8. Thanks JSKY. I do the ice and heat routine a few times every day. It helps for an hour or so. Not sure if I'm ready for brain surgery yet. Could I wear my Yankee hats after it? I'm going for a message tomorrow and the chiro on Friday. Setting up PT sometimes this week also. I walk between 4-5 miles a night. That seems to lossen me up temporarily. I also just bought a Bally's gym membership from some one on Ebay. I have to start that too. The trick is to force yourself to get out and move. Usually the pain just wants to make me sit on the couch and whine. Joe
  9. Hmmmm....that's a tough one. I recently remodeled my kitchen and adjoining room. Started in Feb, almost finished in Aug. I did most of the structural work myself. Also rewired most of the house, and repiped the kitchen water and brought gas into the kitchen for my new Viking Range. Also built a closet. I subbed out the drywall, (I removed all the old crap and killed myself removing two pickup trucks full of rat infested 50 year old insulation. That was REAL fun! I also subbed out the painting and tile floor removal and installation and granite installation I installed all the new appliances,
  10. Hmmmm. Micro ATX. Doesn't that preclude a lot of additions? Not sure if I like the horizontal look. Can you put things on top of it without blocking the air flow? Just wondering.
  11. Ok all you gamers. I need some advice. Although I'm pretty adept at the tech side of 'puters, I know squat about games. To me, an exciting night is playing Solitaire. Or if I REALLY want to get wild and crazy, I crank up Super Mario Brothers or Pacman. Other than that, I'm lost. So what I need to know from all you gamers, is what should I be looking for? But this is important. I am NOT interested in car chases, shoot 'em ups, gore, cops, military, war, blood, or Britney Spears. I like games that make you think, not those that make you sick. Strategy, slow moving, even board type games would be
  12. Hey Schmidt1989. Don't think I know you, but Happy Bday! Were you born in '89? If so, you are YOUNG! I think my cat's older. LOL
  13. The "press" f82ks up again. What else is new.
  14. Hey Wiccan. Have a great day. I always enjoyed your online camaraderie. Joe
  15. where was that, Samjo? I'm an "In the heat....." fan.
  16. LOL. Yes, please clean your room! Otherwise, good pics.
  17. Let's all go to Cape Breton! (mp3...turn your speakers up)
  18. Life is always worth living. I too have a lot of debilitating pain. All I can say is find a good pain doctor, know that the people around you love you, and realise that everyday is a new and unique wonder. "yesterday's gone, and tomorrow don't count" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey BDog! Thanks for the reply. I agree, although sometimes I'm not too sure lately. I'm going to start a new regimen of physical therapy this week. The pain docs just want to try out their new meds on me. I've tried most of them already. They deplete both my brain and my wallet. The only thing worse than being in pain
  19. Hello! This is the place to talk about all the pain, stupitdity, hatred, and other negative things that we have to deal with. My own story is that I've been living in pain 24 hours a day because of a back injury. It's been going on for a year and a half. The past two weeks has been very difficult.. I take all the drugs and go to all the doctors and chiropractors. They help for a day at best. I think the hardest thing about this is that I want to do certain projects but I can't. I haven't been able to work in 2 months. My S.O. is in France for two weeks. I was planning on surprising her by comp
  20. Lets not go down this road again, it only leads to anger and bad feelings on both sides. If you want to rant politics, there are always PMs. What I would do: 1) Adopt all of the unwanted children in America. Hire full time caretaker/foster parents, max 4 children per caretaker. Educate them. 2) Fund a private space program. Set up a colony on the Moon as a stepping stone to Mars. 3) Jump start the Hydrogen economy by building 50 Hydrogen fueling stations a month and one nuclear power plants to create the hydrogen. 4) Quit and sleep late. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I like it!
  21. Girls How can you Not love them? (for awhile anyway)
  22. "I can say that because I was once that kid." Yeah, I was too. Although when I was growing up the only computer was ENIAC. What we used to do for kicks was to put a penny in a vice, and file it down to the size of a dime. If you did it just right, they would work in a public phone booth. Yeah, we even had Booths then! If I remember correctly, it took about 45 minutes of constant filing to get the size right. So although the cost to benefit ratio was silly at best, it was an original hack. Or crack. Joe Oh, and a phone call only cost a dime! But I guess we thought that was too much at the time
