  2. LOL to continue......... pain back........(mine in particular )
  3. It all depends on the format and the bit rate. .wav or .cda is going to be huge no matter how you get it. .mp3 or .wma is much smaller. And then the size of the file: 160 kbps is going to sound better, but will take up more room than 64 kbps, etc.
  4. foursome............hey the door was open
  5. Try a hard reset on both the modem and the router: 1: Turn off the computer. 2: Unplug the modem from the wall plug. 3: Unplug the router from the wall plug. Wait a few minutes, then them back in and restart the computer. If you don't use a router (you should) skip that step.
  6. This reminds me of something I heard about 45 years ago. During that era, Japan had the stigma that China does today. Cheap, inferior products. So someone in Japan opened a manufacturing plant out in the hinterlands. Set up a little company town, brought in a bunch of workers, and named the town.......Usa. So although deceptive, it wasn't really a lie when they stamped "Made in Usa" on the back or their products. True story.
  7. $7 bucks an hour would be fine if the average price of houses was was still $49,000.
  8. OK. I installed Firefox. I never bought into the whole idea about how evil IE was. I had FireFox before, but deleted it due to lack of use. I never had any securuty issues with IE. I'm also very careful about using all the routine precautions. Having said that, due to the problems I've been having with IE "save as", I'm now using FireFox as the default browser. And yes, save as worked like a charm with FF. The other user on this computer is probaly still going to have to use IE, as she logs into a secure bank network while working from home and they only allow IE. When I would "save as" in IE
  9. Yes. All the latest updates are installed. I have to beleive that this is an IE security setting that I can't find. I also just tried disabling the Java JRE, but that doesn't help either. Firefox, here I come!
  10. The wireless router usually has four wired ethernet jacks also. So it is wired AND wireless. And you're right. Don't buy it from the cable company. Go to Best Buy, Fry's, or online outlets. As far as going wired or wireless to the desktops, I'd wire at least one. (keep the router near it). The second desktop depends on your situation for running the Cat 5/6 line. If you can wire it easily, go wired. If not, try a wireless card. And definately go wireless with the laptop. It's SO nice to sit out on the patio, deck, pool, whatever, without a cord! Good luck. Once you go high speed, you'll never
  11. Hmmmm........ I never even thought that it could be a browser problem. I wonder if it's security related? Thanks for the info. I'll just use Firefox. Joe
  12. Alzheimer's ...........as in.........which website am I on now???????
  13. I've been having problems with the "save as" feature on my windoze xp 'puters. While trying to save certain web pages in either ".htm, .html" or ".mht" it stops at 30% and gives me an error message: "cannot save to this location". I can, however save as a .txt file. Here's a site that it just happened on. Is this a website issue or a Windows issue? All replies appreciated. Thanks, Joe
