  1. And next time remember you only need medical treatment for a BIG toe (that one is casted), all the others just need buddywrapping and ibuprophen

Son Aron has broken more toes playing soccer....and walking into things

In a couple weeks you won't even know you broke it, unless you stub it again

    Feel better soon!!!

  2. And keep in mind that it must be super early in the morning where Pierce is at. He may not be awake yet!

Hope you reconnect with him, Jonathan. Send him a Private Message!

  3. Is the computer a 32 or 64 bit *insert proper term here*? I got curious and looked up Mcafee's site and it appears Mcafee only work on 32 bits with Vista. Also, I DO remember that the Mcafee packaging said Vista users needed to download some sort of patch for Vista machines.

A long time ago, Sidekickcat gave me this link to mcafee forums and because it's impossible to find on Mcafee's site, I saved it. You might want to cruise through there as I'm betting someone else has the same problem

  4. OK, Xcannon, you just completely confused me, but that's OK, you were bored :D...Crucial told me that 1024 gigawatts is the max that Aron's idiotbox can use....so he's "full"

And thank you all for your encouragement--nope, didn't need the hammer or even the chainsaw! Yippie! Anyone wanna have new ram installed? It IS a cinch!

  5. Welcome back, Hitest! Awesome pics and glad you had a good trip (it gets over 100 in Canada??? I'm jealous. But then again, when we go to Winsdor, Canada, we head South!)

  6. Even if someone is not familiar with Anne Frank's Wisdom, you can see her Wisdom in her eyes. Beautiful, haunting, thought provoking pic, Joe, and thanks!

  7. First of all, congrats to Sis for going to College!

Secondly, something I learned here  is that if she lives on campus, the campus might have an "extra firewall" in their internet service. That is something she could check out (but if she's like Daughter, she won't...) But if she does happen to inquire and the College does have an extra layer of protection, I'm bettin' Windows Firewall would be just fine, and if she surfs safely, Windows Firewall will be just fine, too. (did that make sense??)

You're probably good with all the gadgets you have, I LOVE Spywareblaster!!! but it probably wouldn't hurt to add Adaware and Spybot. One AV, one Firewall, lots of antispyware gadgets.

  8. With Bozodog! And was it ever fun! We yakked and we yakked and we yakked some more!(surprised???) Even though I was a bit worried that we already know so much about eachother from online yakking that we wouldn't have anything to talk about, nope....we yakked! And then we yakked some more! For about 3 hours straight!

And if it wasn't for BT's, which is where I originally met her, I wouldn't have had the pleasure to meet her and we would have never had a "meet up", so thank you Besttechie's! Can't wait until our paths cross again! And hoping that someday I can meet up with many other online friends!

  9. Congrats, Mike! I, too once quit a job "on the spot" due to the Soap Opera work atmosphere (which would also break a server if I told the story!), and even though it wasn't in my nature to do that, it sure felt good

Good luck with the new prospect! You'll do great!

  10. OK, Aron kicked me out of the area after I read him the directions on how to open the computer case (yup, he had it upside down....)

Now, he just started up the computer and before going to windows, there was a black screen with white lettering saying something along the lines of

"I noticed you installed memory. Click F1 to continue or press F2 for setup"

Assuming that "windows is intelligent enough to recognise new Ram, I had him press F1 to continue. Didn't expect that. Did I make the right choice?

    (and yes, windows started)

Edit! Yup, it WORKED!!! The idiotbox has 1 Gigawatt of Ram! And Aron's geeked!!

Thank you all, and that was a whole lot easier than installing Windows 98 on a Gateway!!!! ;)

  11. A hammer??? I wish! I'm great with a hammer! :D

Oh, don't worry about paybacks for Aron--he's going to do most of the work--I'm just doing the research so I can be bossy!! Besides, we all know about guys and reading directions...no offense! ;)

Darn it, Aron just washed the car last week and it hasn't rained since.....that's OK, I'll think of something else he can lug or fetch, I always do! After all, he *and his buddies* cheerfully work for food.

  12. Ordered new Ram for Son's idiotbox and I've only opened his computer once to check for dust and quickly closed it back up as soon as I saw it was clean inside (I know, I know...I'm pathetic  )

I ordered it through Crucial because of their wonderful analysis tool and read through the installation directions. I learned to unplug the computer, touch metal so nothing gets shocked, unclip the old ram and attach the new ram while making sure to line up the notches and remembering that one has to push the new ram in hard. Supposably Windows will "automatically know the new ram is there" (hah!! We'll see!)

Soooo, is there anything else I should know? Is it really as easy as it sounds? (I know NOTHING is as easy as it sounds.....)

    Thanks a bunch,

    Liz
