  1. It stinks, we will never see $2 gas again.

Probably about the time we see $3 cans of coffee again! <_<

It's been bouncing up and down like crazy up here--on Monday it went up from $3.02-$3.25 and now is slowly coming down. Today it was $3.08 I think....

  2. 8:04 AM

I know because my dad used to call me at that time on my BD to wish me a happy one.

:D :D Paybacks for you keeping him up all night?? :D :D Kidding aside, what a lovely tradition! But I don't dare call Daughter at 1:52am on her Birthday...she probably wouldn't wake up anyways.....

  3. Wow! Well, I'm one who says "my time is cheap", so you got a bargain on that laptop, but untechy me isn't sure it would be worth all the gray hairs!

I read through the hijack posts sometimes and I sincerely HOPE I never, ever have to go through that process! HJT Teamfolk are heroes, though! And shouting a big thanks to them

  4. I LOVE the smell of cranberries and just might heat some up to scent the house! :D Especially since I don't like the taste (such a beautiful color, smells Heavenly, how come I don't like them????)

So thank YOU for that great tip!

And hoping you and everyone at BTs has a Blessed, Happy and SAFE Thanksgiving

  5. Well, I have a rather weird dilemma myself and the two might be related. We have a paper shredder on the computer desk (where the printer used to go before the kids swiped it). Every time we use the shredder, my mouse "dies". I have to unplug it and replug it in. The mouse came with the computer so I'm assuming the drivers are OK.

The shredder is now moved (thinking vibration?) but hasn't been used since. Another idea is that they are both plugged into the same powerstrip. When we DO use the shredder, I'll post my results as to whether the mouse dies or not

  6. 7 Layer Salad

Place in a bowl with a tight lid (or else your fridge will smell like hardboiled eggs AND you can buy these at the Dollar Store) in order:

Lettuce (fill about 2/3-3/4 of the bowl, usually takes a head with a large bowl)

Green Onions (one bunch will do the trick unless you have a very large bowl)

    Cooked Frozen Peas, cooled

Bacon Bits (Mc Cormicks are cheaper and gives Hubby less heartburn than Bacos)

Real Mayonaisse (about 1/2-3/4 " thick, I use a Quart Jar and call it good)

Chopped Hard Boiled Eggs, cooled (about 6 or 7 but make an extra to for the cook to munch on!)

Shredded Cheddar Cheese (8 oz pkg)

Once everything's placed, gently smush it and make the day before (which means if you plan on Layer Salad, y'better get shopping! ;) )

As for BIL, my Sister gave me a good idea--if he finds the speck of dust and comments, hand him a rag! Almost tempting to leave a speck just so I can do that!!

  7. You hit the nail on the head, Marty! Sending this to my sisters who remember life in a house with 5 girls between the ages of 13 and 18 (Daughter times FIVE means Dad spent a lot of time in the garage during those years!)

  8. Lucky YOU, Echobay! Every year I have the In-Laws over for Thanksgiving dinner and cook for a dozen. Combat Cleaning has been on my docket this past week (I have one BIL that notices any lil piece of dust, so now it's a challenge--he can eat off my floors!)

Although my favorite side dish for Thanksgiving is Green Bean Casserole (mmmmmmy favorite!), anytime I get an invite, I get a request for seven layer salad....To me seven layer salad seems like a summer dish, but I guess to others it's an anytime dish

  9. Howdy blim, thanks for that offer. I was hopeing to hear that he had sent you a link so we coulf figure this out.

I'll wait for him to send it and see whats going on here !

    Many thanks

    Chuck

Sent the PM to Liz this am.

Got Handplane's PM and it worked just fine on my end......took a tiny bit longer to load than usual, but it's pretty complex and I figured that was the reason why.

I uploaded it to my Photobucket account (OK, Son's!) and sent it to Chuck to see if the "different connection" makes a difference. First time sending someone an image! Worked when I clicked preview...

  10. It IS strange! I never have a problem with Handplane's designs that he sent PM

Handplane, try sending that to me and I'll check to see if it works on my end. Won't be online for a few though (taking a carpet cleaning break and diving back in), so it might be a while before I respond

  11. And now from Whitehall I see! I was born near Chicago, moved to Whitehall when I was 10 (we vacationed up here and my folks fell in love with the area) and found a "antique-dreamhouse" across the river when I got married. Been a "Wildcat" for 27 years now.

Look out, BTs, another White Laker on board ;)

Oh, and I emailed this to the kids (they're not really kids, they're in their 20s) and Son will be thrilled to hear the place is still standing. He and Girlfriend are history buffs (which is why they went to the auction in the first place)

  12. Hi Sadony!!! (how in the world did you find this???) Well, I'm not dissapointed because I am SO relieved to hear the real story!! Y'know the old saying, "not much happens in a small town but what you hear makes up for it". The explanation the kids heard (from someone on the premises) tore at our hearts since this place has so much history, and I'm very glad that it wasn't the case.

So I take it the Estate is still intact? I need to take a ride out there.

And welcome to BT's! You from Montague?
