  1. Thanks a million for the link, Barb. I was just getting ready to head over there to see if I had it still in my subscribed stuff. I have to do some editing to get my original post corrected. I am so sorry and upset that my post hurt Chappy, it sure wasn't intentional, just didn't know the facts. God bless everyone.
  2. Welcome to the boards iwuud2. Yes this backweb lite thing is perplexing to say the least. As I said earlier in the thread, Spybot has now renewed its listing of backweb lite as spyware after it stopped listing it months ago. I don't know why they are listing it again. But for those of us with HP/Compaq computers, or logitech devices, etc. that utilize Backweb lite as updaters etc, it is a major problem to remove it and find out it is needed for something, mainly because to use the Spybot recovery mode to reinstate it doesn't work to fully return it to previously normal functions according to
  3. Chappy (Dave), I could just cry. I didn't know any of this. I want to sincerely apologize to you for my post in that one year anniversary thread thanking (edited to: only) Pete for starting the tech board. I didn't know anyone else was involved before or afterwards in getting the tech board going for all of us. (edited out whole last sentence of this paragraph as it was not said respectfully for which I am sorry. I do respect and thank Pete for all he has done on G4 to make the Tech Supppot board a good board for all of us.) I am so sorry Dave, I never meant to hurt you or anyone with my post
  4. Good to see both Mac and JSKY back. I hope you get the girl back Mac, and that the job consult turns into a good job for you. JSKY where are you that so much snow is on the way? Yikes! That is so neat to get so much wood stored up for the future. By the way, have you ever tried "the ove glove" for feeding firewood into stove or fireplace? My hubby bought me two of them (one to a pkg) a couple of years ago (Walgreens). Now I wonder how I ever managed wood stoves all my life without these great protector gloves. Good for barbecues too I understand. Yes a corner lot does have it's drawbacks when
  5. Hi everyone, I think I need a cup of coffee folks, still cool here and drizzly, to warm up tomorrow to near 70 for several days. There were some incredible amounts of rain in past 48 hours or so around the state. Especially on the coast, and even in the desert part of the state. Cascades had low (5000 ft) snow levels and got several inches of snow. We had over an inch of rain though it felt like alot more, and enough wind to take some tree branches down, even some power lines I heard. It hit Washington too, and again the Yakima (central Wa.) area had another funnel cloud show up but no touch d
  6. Hello Chappy (Dave), I don't know what the rant was, but if something upset you so much that you had to express yourself about it then it was ok to do it, in my opinion. I think sometimes things need to be brought out in the open in order to set the record straight, or clear the air, or bring up an issue before it gets alot worse. I have been known to throw a temper trantrum a time or two myself... And like you just did, I end up apoligizing for it, but the part that people don't know is I also have to forgive the one(s) who set me off, and myself for blowing, otherwise it still is a open wo
  7. Happy Birthday Mike, May you be blessed with a long life filled with good health, happiness, and wealth. God bless everyone.

  9. Hello Rick, Welcome to the boards here, but I am sorry you are having so much trouble with your computer. Matt is right to suggest posting this to the hijackthis section. Do a copy of the log from here, or the one saved on your system, and then start a new thread in Hijackthis logs and paste it in that thread. Here is the link to the security hijackthis log section. Hijackthis log section of Besttechie I know it is hard when you have computer troubles, but patience is a big help, besides giving you a time to calm down from being upset with the evil things attacking you, it also gives the expe
  10. You home sounds lovely Liz!!! It's the people that make it a home, not just a house, so I know yours is great!!! It does need a turret or two though. I have no idea why I love turrets so, as I have never lived in a house with one...sigh, but think they are fantastic. Does it have sliding pocket doors between dining room and living room? I lived in victorian era house that had those. Really nice to open up the two rooms for entertaining, but oh so drafty in winter, actually whole house was totally uninsulated, brrrr! It takes a labor of love to take on the job of restoring an old house. Luckily
  11. Thanks for the download manager info. I may just have a try at doing it without that though, as I am used to the slowness of dialup. I can always read a magazine or two...as I keep an eye on things. Our dialup isp decided a couple of days ago to quit the 4 hour cutoff, it and put it at 8 hrs, so should be ok for any huge things. Though who knows maybe it wont take more than an hour or two? I'll let you know how long it takes when I do it. I have a few other things to do ahead of this one, now the weather is settling down to just rainy, without thunderstorms to have to unplug for, so I will be
  12. stove...(I'm cold today!) God bless everyone.
  13. Any Hot chocolate available here? I am in a chocolate mood, and after seeing Mac's ice storm picture, I'm shivering, so want it hot!!! Brrr!!! Cute harmonica playing, toe tapping, chipmunk picture too. The kitty cat knockout was cute! Our last two cats played a game of sit on haunches and dual paw swing at the nose of the sheltie type dog we had at the time. In fact both dog and cat would do pretend nips and punches, and sneak 'attacks' back and forth untill they wore themselves out. Both cats (indoor only cats) were declawed, to protect the dog from accidently losing an eye. When the first
  14. I know next to nothing about this stuff, but I was wondering if, since you think it was fine after Spybot, but might have been something Adaware took out, is there a recovery thing on Adaware? I know there is on Spybot. Also have you checked your settings in both IE, and in your connection settings etc, to see if something got changed or unchecked, or even in trusted sites in antivirus? Every now and then something will take out the check mark for my little connection monitors that show internet activity down by my clock. Just happened recently after a spybot scan for some reason. And I have h
  15. Thanks for the download manager info. Are they really safe to use? I have only seen them mentioned on boards a time or two, and can't remember much about what was said. I know I read about the download accelerators being troublesome. So declined it when my dialup offered it, especially at an additional 4 bucks a month. Oh if I only did get 56K. sigh!!! Why do they call it that when it doesn't produce it? I usually get 28 something, and if I am real lucky I get 31.2. sigh!!! I appreciate all the advice from everyone. God bless everyone.
  16. Happy Birthday, May you be blessed with a long life filled with good health, happiness, and wealth. God bless everyone.

  18. I love that picture Mac!!! I laughed 'til I nearly choked on my celery! I always thought that babies should be fed in a tub/shower, then just shower off the mess the easy way (snicker)!!! But most mothers I ever mentioned that idea to thought it would be the wrong thing to do. (Though I bet they privately considered it a few times!!!) By the way, I am not a mother just part of the village, as in 'it takes a village to raise a child.' Liz, I hope your son's neck is ok! Kinks are so uncomfortable!!! Oh and I hope your dental appt went ok the other day, we are scheduled for a once every 2 year
  19. This is for all the TTV family. I thought you might like to check in on this thread at G4. It was on something called the Oats board, now is on Tech Support, and Pete will leave it there a few days, then on Sat? he will move it to Social Forum he said. It seems like a homecoming reunion type thread of sorts, along with the usual one year anniversary talk (which I think is the end of this month?). And what would the family be like if it didn't have it's dysfunctional element too. Sigh! So something for everyone from old TTV boards. So if you are from the TTV family, then please do go over and
  20. WOW, thanks folks for all the information!!! You folks are so helpful, thank you very much!!! Now I am a bit less scared to try it, though still not super confident about the Sun Java thing which still seems scary to me. I am still debating this, as that is a major size download for me. It will have to wait until I get the occasional higher connection speed. And right now the weather isn't co-operating either, with hints of thunderstorm activity off and one in the area for a few days. So don't want to be doing a massive download and chance losing it or messing it up to a power outage or blip,
  21. Hello Everyone, Stopped by for some of cafe's good hot coffee, (mine is lukewarm, and zapped in microwave once already...! ugh.) Blood pressure monitor is still iffy, or else my BP is iffy??? Almost normal today, after being higher yesterday but still not as high-medium as Monday's "official" readings. So is it this monitor, or cuff size thing, or am I varying 20 points a day? Now why did I think that getting one of these things would be a steady reassurance to me that things were better??? Liz, the Dr Whitaker newsletter booklet says to eat 4 to 5 large stalks of celery a day to reduce th
  22. Thanks so very much flatiron. What a kind thing to do for me, I really appreciate it. Those ads don't look to bad at all...your way! Does Opera do nag popup ads to get you to buy the ad free version? Next questions are about Sun Java: Does Opera mirror the Sun Java download? Or do I have to try to figure out that Unuser-friendly Sun Java site to get it? I haven't recently checked out Sun Java's website, but it made no sense whatsoever to a newbie like me about a year ago. No way was it user-friendly. I could not, at that time, figure out what to do even. Geek that might as well have been Greek
  23. I used to be organized many years ago then I got married. Nowa days it is hubby pushing me to do what he says are top priority things, then I try to add in a few I want to do. Then that mixture is what usually turns the errand day into a chaotic disaster. At least we try to prioritize things (usually by deadlines!), and by which part of town we need to be in, and by energy level. Somehow yesterday turned out to be a backtrack day on Kaiser part. Plus it was worse because we didn't eat lunch somewhere, breaking our own rules of what works and what doesn't for us. We know we should take a lu
  24. That's what I was thinking, but thought maybe I was the only one around that spent so much time (several hours a day, maybe 5 to 6 or so, ) online, mostly on the boards. God bless everyone.
