Yes it will speed up things for gaming. I have used it before and noticed a difference in frame rate ext.. basically it just shuts down all the un needed programs that would affect gaming. I dont. However, i go to garage sells and flea markets, and find (like tyme said) electronics that i can re-sale on ebay. OSs are always good. You can find win 98 cheap. I bought one at garage sale last summer and sold it on ebay for just under $90. Oh, if you want to take a risk, keep on the look out for storage unit auctions. OH! Also, visit your local Dollar Tree (if you have one). I often find expensive books there often for (ofcourse) $1.

Ok then, here what you do. Start at the top, (or the bottom). Unplug one piece of hardware that your computer does NOT need to boot up. EX: Hard drive, extra ram, cd drives, PCI cards etc.. THen, try to boot your computer. If it still doesnt work, take another piece out. Keep going untill you have either found the problem or have run out of non-essential pieces of hardware to remove.

Did you leave the monitor on? Maybe it died while you were gone. DO you have a spare monitor you can try?
