iwas taught that to control cookies for your benifit you need to go to IE tools -internet options -privacy tab -advanced -check overide cookie handling -check prompt in first party cookies --block in third party cookies -check session cookies.then when a site wants to place a cookie on your sys you can accept or rejest it this way there is less chance of spy ware being depoited and a virus on your sys ive had these settings for 3-4 years and i dont have the troubles i see a lot of posters post here for. pete_.c and chappyfrd taught me that some time ago

just read an article in a compt mag. and it said sp2 will have compatablity issues with third party applis .so obviopsly microsoft want us to use microsoft approved software . ive done this so i havent had any problems.apart from my sound card issue. but that is now fixed so im ahving a great run hope i havent spoken to soon.my advice is think about that third party issue.if you want trouble free computer.ok i agree it is a microsoft monopoly but if other software companys want a bit of the xp pie they need to make their software compatable. marty

does any one think the weather is because of global warming. or is it a result of natural weather patterns to me this phenonimen seems to be world wide tho the area these storms are in has a pattern over the years.if it is caused by global warming can you expect more and worse. i think the world has to clean up its act or natural patterns wil be a force to be reckoned with in the future. where i live this sort of weather is rare.tho parts of my country does get the od big storm. i sympathise with the repicipients of a storm caused by nature what can you do.when the strongest force in the

hi team im haveing taskbar problems my task bar is to far up the desk top. i can bring it back to shape when i uncheck quicklaunch.but i lose my task bar icons.when i check quick launch. the icons appear but the task bar is to. far up the desk top..ive had this seveal times in the past .but the brain cells are not working . can some one steer me in the right direction marty

have you thought about setting your cookies to prompt and block. try this. open internet options tools privacy tab- advanced check override cookie handling first party cookies check prompt third party cookies check block. check allow session cookies . these are my settings and i dont have popups. if a site wants to place a cookie on your sys it will prompt you so you have the option to allow it or not that way you can keep the popups down to a minimum. hey i just posted this some where else. OR may be you are having trouble with messenger that creates popups

recently i posted about not being able to install win98 and that the sys wasnt recognising the drive.and it wasnt bringing up the driver.for the cd rom well i have egg on my face.and it is very embarrassing.the connection from the cd rom wasnt plugged in to the mother board. and the reason im posting this is to appoligise to the posters who tried to help. the friend who i tried to help must have disconnected it and didnt tell me tho i should have known.the signs were there. ive thought about it all day.any one else had mistakes like this thanks to all who posted

is this appli on sp2 as well. i have sp2 now and when it scanned my sys it recognise my avg scanner.but i didnt refer o the one you mentioned.i might google it thanks marty

its great how people have thier dislikes and favourites ,when dealing . virus scanners.how does the poster know if avg is ok or not if he hasent tried it is it because it is free.there seems to be a conception if it is free it is no good. well i was a member of the techtv board for some years and over 60 percent were using avg.it is equal to any paid one.i treid avast but it kept taking a dll file out i like it but i couldnt fix the dll file problem.so i went back to avg. and it is as good as any. the poster needs to read the board to see how many use avg and not speculate

hi team ive just recieved the sp2 cd from microsoft which i ordered 4 weeks ago. my question.i installed sp2 from win update some time ago which was 75 mgs but the cd has 250mg.can some one tell me what is the difference. marty

hi mike i remember roger chang demonstarting tooth paste to to clear up cd scratches.i cant vouch for it my self. but i was on a thread where some one said it was successful for them. but i cant guarentee this method.it seems you need tooth paste and a soft chamios cloth and rub to the outer of the disk. ive tried to find the article in the screen savers archives.but it may have gone by now marty

hi team i need your advice.i tried to install win98se on to an old machine which had 98se.but had been formatted. i downloaded a boot disk from bootdisk.com. but when i fdisk- format-insert the install disk first it tells me it dosent detect the drive.in the bios do i set the boot sequence from the a drive boot floppy or the cd rom d:do i need to download the right boot floppy.for win98se. there are 2-3 choices.and im not sure which one i need.when i get to the where i type set up i get the message wrong or bad command. any ideas what im doing wrong ive installed it before

yes cindy_wake man used to help us to sign in using our user and password 2-3 times i changed my u name and pw and it was she who set it up for me. yes she worked for techtv for quite sometime . it may be some one using her id. but i think it is her.she didnt front many programs.but i saw her on the tech live program . marty

hi team just posted on the g4 board and i noticed a cindy_wakeman has posted is this the cindy _wakeman who used to register the members for the c.f.h and screensavers.boards i think it may be her as she used that username.i did a lot of corrosponding with her.and she helped me quite a lot. try and get her here marty
