  3. It is an old cassette deck that you would normally run thru an amp in your stereo system The tapes that she has to copy are not music, just spoken word so Hi fidelity sound is not a real priority. I don't know if I have a line in.....I don't think so.....I have the sound card built into to the motherboard. Is this Audacity program a free program? Thanks, guys.......jr
  4. Hi experts. My wife has some 90 min. cassette tapes that she would like to dub to CD's I have a cord to go from the output of the tape player and go into the mic port on my sound card. We tried to do it with "sound recorder" but it only would record 1 minute. Is there a program within XP Pro that would allow me to input to the HD and then burn out to a CD with Deep Burner or Nero?? Thanks, guys and gals.............jr
  5. Hi all.......haven't posted in a while I am thinking about going with a dual boot so I can have an older OS on the machine so I can have my grandkids play some of the older games that I have that won't work (no matter what I try) under XP I am wondering if I can do this. My HD has LOTS of room on it but it's formatted NTFS. I have Original disks for DOS 6.2 and for WIN95 and WIN98SE and I would like to do one of these OS's as a dual boot. Will the install set up something to allow me to do that? Will any of these install on a drive that's formatted NTFS? If it doesn't install any kind of a "
  6. We bought a new Lexus, you know the one that parks itself, but had to return it to the dealer the next day because I couldn't get the radio to work. The salesman explained that the radio was voice activated. "Nelson," the salesman said to the radio. The Radio replied, "Ricky or Willie?" "Willie!" he continued and "On the Road Again" came from the speakers. Then he said, "Ray Charles!", and in an instant "Georgia On My Mind" replaced Willie Nelson. I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I'd say, Soggy Bottom Boys," I'd get beautiful bluegrass music, and if I said, Beatles,

  11. Rob is a commercial saturation diver for Global Divers in Louisiana. He performs underwater repairs on offshore drilling rigs. Below is an e-mail he sent to his sister. She then sent it to radio station 103.2 FM in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, who was sponsoring a worst job experience contest. Needless to say, she won: Hi Sue, Just another note from your bottom-dwelling brother. Last week I had a bad day at the office. I know you've been feeling down lately at work, so I thought I would share my dilemma with you to make you realize it's not so bad after all Before I can tell you what happened t
  12. yeah and check out the " drive time " too jim
  13. Hi Mark I have installed Ubuntu onto a second hard drive and the installation went smooth as silk. When you start the install of Ubuntu ( or any Linux OS) part of the procedure is the program checking for drives and space on these drives. It will show both HD's -- The master ( C: ) will be shown as HD 0 and the slave drive will be HD 1. The install should suggest partitions on the drive and then go thru the install. It will also install the Grub loader and that will give you the choice on Boot Up of which OS you want to boot to. Just remember that if you ever remove the Linux OS from y

  15. Ha.........brings back lots of memories. My very first car was a 1958 Plymouth Fury. Big tail fins and everything. I bought it for $25 and I had to put a muffler on it and it needed a new battery. It had a push button transmission and it didn't have a "park" -- you put it in neutral and set the parking brake. What fun!!! Enjoy your new car..........it looks like a real nice one!!! jim
  16. The Blade CX2 is VERY sensative to wind so if there is any wind at all, you probably don't want to be out with it. Flies just fine inside, however.
  17. Thanks, buddy I'll keep you posted jr
  18. thanks for the link......haven't been there but I will explore. Back in the 70's, I had a DuBro Scorpion that barely could hover and never did get that to fly good. I flew lots of planes but helis were just coming into their own. Then kids, and job, and moving, and yada yada yada,,,,,,,,,,, My dad, who is very active in R/C gave me a Falcon 3D for my birthday this year but that heli is SO far advanced to me right now that I couldn't even attempt to try that yet He loaned me his Blade CX2 to try for a while and I got hooked again. Bought one myself. LOTS of fun. I can hover out a full batt
  19. After a period of about 20+ years of not being involved in the hobby, I find myself back in the R/C Helicopter hobby again. I was just wondering if anybody else on BT shares my interest? I am right now flying a Blade CX2 which is quite small and can only be flown indoors or outside if NO wind present. Anybody else out there fly heli's???? jim
  20. Good one, Marty..........brings back lots of memories............... My wife and I had a son and a daughter. Both are married now to wonderful people, and have given us wonderful grandkids, too. I remember when my daughter's boyfriend came over one night and (YES, HE REALLY DID THIS) asked me for her hand in marriage. I let him sweat for about 10 seconds and then said "Well, OK" Boy, has he turned out to be a winner!!! Brings back lots of memories thanks..........jim

  24. It's actually more like trombone players (or drummers, or your "favorite" section) are always off in their own little world and don't pay attention to what's going on around them. Kind of an inside joke for musicians. jim
