  2. If you check the properties of the shortcut that starts the game, I think there is a choice to play it windowed
  3. A woman went to a K-Mart service counter and told the clerk she wanted a refund for the toaster she bought because it won't work. The clerk told her that he can't give her a refund because she bought it on special. Suddenly, the woman threw her arms up in the air and started screaming, "PINCH MY NIPPLES, PINCH MY NIPPLES, PINCH MY NIPPLES!!!!!!" The befuddled clerk ran away to get the store manager in front of a growing crowd of customers. The manager asked the woman,"Ma'am what's wrong?" She explained the problem with the toaster, and he told her that he couldn't give her a refund becau
  4. The National Transportation Safety Board recently divulged they had covertly funded a multi-state project with auto makers where black box voice recorders were installed in four-wheel drive pickup trucks and SUV's in an effort to understand the last 15 seconds of a fatal accident. The Board was surprised to find the recorded last words of drivers in 49 of the 50 states were all the same: "Oh, SH*T!" Only the state of Alabama was different, where the final words were: "Y'all hold my beer, I'm gonna try somethin."
  5. What you are looking for is the power options. In XP, right click on the desktop somewhere and choose properties. Then click on the screen saver tab and on the bottom of that page is the power options. click on that button and then you should see the settings for turning off the monitor and hard disks and the standby settings. Change all those to 'never' and that should fix that. If you have to do a really long download, you might want to check out a program like "get right" which will monitor your download and if you get disconnected, it will resume the download from where it got lost. Ve
  6. Wow. Really makes you think about how small we really are in the grand scheme of things. Great site!! Thanks..........jim
  7. Well, last year I resolved to give up making resolutions and I am happy to report that I was 100% successful!!! Woo hoo! jim
  8. Right back at ya, fella!!!! Best wishes for the new year!!! jim
  9. Well, unless it tells you not to use a specific cable in the instructions, go ahead and hook it up to what ever is closer. If you have a free line, then use it.
  10. I agree, also, that you should relist your number I get VERY few calls now and if you do get one, you should take down their information and then turn them in. They are supposed to cross reference their call lists with the no call list and they can be fined for not doing so.
  11. Well, without seeing it, I would say whatever fits. I THINK what you are hooking up is a power supply for the cooling fan that is on the board. Is this correct? Usually you will have extra power supply lines available that can be used for extra drives or fans and such.
  12. No, that's not it. Eprompter puts a symbol in the taskbar. The program I remember starts a .avi file that shows a spinning E in the middle of your screen that was about 3 inches square.
  13. I don't know if this is the right area to post this in, but if I'm wrong, feel free to move it to the correct thread. I used to have a little program that would check my Email from time to time and when there was mail, then it would run a little avi file or an animated gif file (rather than just playing a sound or flashing in the task bar). It would display a rotating "E" on the screen. It was patterned after the computer display that was seen in the movie "The Net" ( I think that is what it was ) that starred Sandra Bullock. The Incredimail program will do this but I don't like some of
  14. Thanks you. I knew that it was something simple. Much appreciated! jim
  15. Not entirely true. The following is from Snopes: All of these points have been summed up in numerous media articles, such as the following from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: There is a grain of truth in the message making it believable, but it's wrong on two counts: Not all cell phone numbers will be listed in the national directory planned for 2006. And telemarketers will not have access to the directory. It is illegal for marketers using auto-dialers — and most do — to call wireless phone numbers. Here's the truth: A national directory will be compiled, but numbers will be included on
  16. Ooooohhhh Shades of Tim Taylor................MORE POWER!!! Woof!!!!!!
  17. I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 5.10 and I must have checked something funny in the setup because when I restart my computer into Windows, the clock is ahead by 6 hours I think that this is the time difference between Central (US) time and GMT. It's not really a BIG deal to reset the clock when I log back into Windows, but I shouldn't have to do this. Can somebody tell me what I have to do to correct this? Thanks, experts!! Jim
  18. I believe that the 2003 software did NOT require activation. I would hold off on buying anytning untill she gets to college because as was mentioned earlier, she will be able to get M$ Office at a really good price. Most colleges want all the students to all be using the same software and the colleges have multiple site liscences and make the programs available at a reasonable rate. Open office is a good suite and it's free. You could get and install it for now till she gets there.
  19. I believe that you don't have to partition it but you will have to format it. As to FAT32 or NTFS formatting, that will depend on what OS you are running and what you intend to do with it. I have a second drive that I installed Linux on a 20 Gig partition that I DIDN'T format because Linux will take care of that for you. I also formatted a 10 Gig partition to FAT32 so WindowsXP and Linux could BOTH write to that partition and then share files. I formatted the rest of the dirve to NTFS so I could use it for backup and extra space for XP

  24. One beautiful December evening Pedro and his girlfriend Rosita were sitting by the side of the ocean. It was a romantic full moon, when Pedro said, "Hey, mamacita, let's play Weeweechu." "Oh no, not now, let's look at the moon" said Rosita. "Oh, c'mon baby, let's you and I play Weeweechu. I love you and it's the perfect time," Pedro begged. "But I wanna just hold your hand and watch the moon." "Please, corazoncito, just once, play Weeweechu with me." Rosita looked at Pedro and said,"OK, one time, we play Weeweechu." Pedro grabbed his guitar and they both sang....."Weeweechu a Merry Christmas,
  25. A little old lady is walking down the street, dragging two plastic garbage bags with her, one in each hand. There's a hole in one of the bags, and every once in a while a $20 bill is flying out of it onto the pavement. Noticing this, a policeman stops her...."Ma'am, there are $20 bills falling out of that bag..." "Damn!" says the little old lady....."I'd better go back and see if I can still find some. Thanks for the warning!" "Well, now, not so fast," says the cop. "How did you get all that money?" " Did you steal it?" "Oh, no", says the little old lady. "You see, my back yard backs up t
