  5. ok thanks. So how would I go about changing it to minutes or even hours? If say, I did it in hours, would the margin of error be an hour? or still a second? Also, Is C++ a bad language to spend time learning? Matt
  6. Hi jcl, so say I wanted it to print on the screen the value of int a for 10 seconds. Would this be my code? #include <ctime> using namespace std; int a; a = 5; void busy_wait(unsigned sec) { for (clock_t t = clock(); (clock() - t)/CLOCKS_PER_SEC < 10; ) ; cout << a; } else; cout << "I printed the value of A for 10 seconds"; cout << endl; Matt
  7. I was wondering if there is a syntax of the for statement in C++ that makes it loop for a set amount of time. like for(2 hours) do this. I'm sure there's a way to make thinfs happen for a set ammount of time... If it is too complicated then I may not use it, but id still like to know. Matt
  8. Im not sure if I'm still infected with NewDotNet. I still have the uninstall files on my machine, and MS Anti-Spyware still finds it. Here's a link to the other thread with more information on this: http://www.besttechie.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=2030 Here's my HiJackThis Log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 6:57:09 PM, on 3/20/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDO
  9. Okay, I rescanned with MS Anti-Spyware, and it came up in like two seconds. But, it only sees two of the 4 uninstall files I found. But, they are just the uninstall files. Ill post a hijackthis log. Here's my log: http://www.besttechie.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=2038 Matt

  12. Prey (book about Nanotechnology by Micheal Crichton)
  13. Hmm, well thanks for the info on CD encodement. Good luck Codemuffin, it very well could be just a bad CD. I guess we'll know for sure when you try it on other devices. Matt
  14. Hi JSKY, thanks for the help. I realize you got this from their site. #1 and 2 didn't work, but I found this files in #3. There were more than I expected. Iuninstalled using all four of them. It said it was successful, I rebooted. I still have the uninstall files in the Windows folder. Was it removed and just left those behind? If so, do you think it is ok to delete those four uninstall files? I don't want to kill my internet... When I ran the spyware scan, it only brought up the uninstall files. LOL.. basically, am I clean or not, and what's my next move? Matt
  15. Well, I have heard of these new ideas to make it so you cannot copy CDs to your computer, and this does sound a lot like it. Although, I'm still confused of what Linux has to do with it. Did I miss something about that? Matt
  16. So even if you tried this disc in Windows, it would not have been able to read it? Matt
  17. I just read the pinned thing about newdotnet being able to break your internet connection if removed with an automatic scanner. I just scanner with Microsoft Anti-Spyware, and it found that, but suggested that I leave it alone. Should I have removed it with that, or used a special tool? If so, how do I remove? More information on this item: NewDotNet (Browser Plug-In) c:\windows\ndnuninstall4_80.exe c:\windows\ndnuninstall4_80.exe Matt
  18. But if it is a DRM issue, then why does it matter which OS you are using? Matt
  19. I'm confused.. Are they putting file information that is not readable on Linux, or is this some DRM ploy? Matt

    Who To Trust?

    I've always (well not always) wanted to be part of the Linux Community. I've tried out Knoppix, and I just recently ordered copies of Ubuntu. In answer to your questions: 1) What's stopping you from taking on Linux? Currently, my parents. I work on a family machine, and they're afraid that I'll screw something up and lose everything. I guess its reasonable. I've never installed more than 1 OS on a machine, and I've never partitioned before. I guess its just mostly fear. I intend on using Linux rather soon, I realise that it isn't that scary of a step. 2) How can we (royal we, or communi
