Good question. IE can be vulnerable to malicious code embedded in websites. I always advise people to stay the hell away from IE and use FF or Opera. I don't trust IE even on a system that is fully patched.

Thanks for the reply, my friend! No worries:-) I was getting errors when I tried to compile some of the dependencies of linux-flash, conflicts in a library back-end. I finally gave up, did a minimal, base install then everything worked. Go figure. After the base install I used pkg_add to install xorg and kde.

Yep, agreed. I'm using Debian on my desktop at work. I installed samba then I could navigate, access the windows network.
