    Where Is It?

I looked through some cd back ups recently and kept asking my self, "What the heck did I want/keep (program name) for?" I still kept those cd's even after seeing they were of little use to me. I could have freed up about 30 slots in the cd folder but nooooo. M

    Where Is It?

I thought I seen a link on the boards where you could send an invite to a person, by inputing their email addy. I may be thinking of some other place or I may be imagining it. If we don't have it how hard would it be to set up? M
  7. Don't know about MS S&T but I do know Delorme Topo, some online maps are horribly off. I use Topo and mapquest to get the "general" area of where I am looking. My $00.02. M
  8. I am ooking for a hold your hand tutorial on how to make a FF extension. I have a program running on a server, server has a static IP. This program, The Dude by Mikrotik, monitors our network. I would like an extension like Nagios checker to check The Dude. I presently have to log in through VNC to the server to check the system. Any pointers? Again I am nothing of a programmer. M
  9. The router was configured for PPPoE. Max idle time was 9999. LAN lease was forever. Enabled remote admin, changed default port of remote admin log in. Everything else was default. Oh it was a wireless router. SSID changed and encrypted with 128 WEP. M
  10. I have not had a problem with the linksys today. I run speedtest multiple times and then left it to sit for a few hours then connected and surfed wirelessly with no problems. The DSL with businesses may be provisioned differently unless you have a service level agreement same as the business mentioned. I am running out of ideas......sorry. M
  11. It is a possibility.... The ISP firewall may see it as a virus or spam traffic. I have my neighbors linksys wireless router. I set it for connect on demand and it would not reconnect right off. I set it for 20 sec. keep alive and will try it out through out the day. M
  12. Linky Your ISP may be shutting down if the connections are exceding limits set in their firewalls. If you had only one computer connected straight to the DSL modem it will not disconnect correct. M
  13. OK so I'm watching the morning news and they report TJX the parent company of TJ Maxx and Marshals had a security issue. Hackers had access to their credit card database for like 18 months. What the hell. So they have an IT department with a security team? 18 months. The good news supposedly 75% of the cards were expired, now the other 25% are being declined because they are MAXED OUT. LOL. M
  14. Just thought of this, is the log enabled on the linksys? Could help to point out the issue.
  15. WOW I am now enlightened.
  16. Search for google for openwrt and dd-wrt I have not played with any of these so I could not answer any questions about them. I will guess you have more than one computer on your network because you have a router and a switch. Does the connection drop for all machines on the network? Check the nic, is it set to shut down to save power? If so uncheck this. The switch is only relaying the data, I would not think it will affect keep alive status. M
  17. First go straight from your DSL modem to your computer and surf with the same habits you would as if going through the linksys. This will tell if the DSL is dropping or the linksys. If the linksys is acting as the DSL modem then I set the ones I install to Keep Alive with the time at 30 seconds, this is the lowest that it can be set. Also check your LAN settings for DHCP lease time. set it to forever or what ever the max may be. You can get around the dhcp thing by manually configuring your machine(s) with a static ip address. On a final not check the firmware, if there is a newer version it w
  18. Ok I can agree with alot of what was said here. As for the latter posts, well....if someone is paid to do a job then give them ALL the tools to do said job, if job is not done said person is now labeled unemployed. Period. From a President down to an Inspector on a shipping dock, and everyone in between. I will stop at this as I feel my rant meter climbing. M
  19. "We're open to suggestions," Love said. "What I've told them is, 'We'll do this any way we can. If it's impossible then it's real easy; y'all can build the bridge in Idaho."' This caught my eye also. Made me laugh. Sound like a good ol' boy. M

Glad you are ok ol' man. Get ready for the nuclear jokes........ M
  21. The site could be blocking an IP range. Meaning someone in the IP range they are blocking done something bad against the site, possibly more than once. Contact the Admin and explain your problem and ask for a work around. M
  22. This sounds like a variant of SmitFraud. As for the $25 for the OS well I would have to see that on paper. I know many machine out there are running hacked versions of XP, no system errors for the License key???? M Afterthought: If you produced a valid license why not install the OS for "that" license?
