    Hijack Logs

I often wonder where I would have gone if Jeff didn't open this place. I am a member of several online forums but I can say it has been a year+ since I have visited anywhere other than here. If I forget my manners here I would expect someone to slap me in the head to remind me of my manners. I do not want anyone taking my lack of posting a thank you as non appreciation. I see some folks come in for help and they are commenting about things to keep the poster moving in the right direction until someone with more knowledge comes along to say more on the subject. BT is a place where friends help

    Learn From Me

Its the run around I get when I call. The conflicting answers to the ship date and now refund date. I am working with my bank Capital One to see "whats in my wallet" lol had to. Any way good business practice is to be upfront with the answers. Not having a customer is better than having one mad and slam you where they can. M

    Learn From Me

I ordered ddr2 ram from a yahoo store. After three weeks I have yet to receive parts or refund. I started doing some research and came up with lots of negative comments. I flied a report with IC3.gov. I will contact their local police department on Monday. The website for the LA county Better Business Bureau is just taking me in circles. I will call them on Monday also. That is the short version. My lesson to you: Stick with the big guys you can trust or...... Search for your parts, then research the online store. Take 2 or 3 days to dig. Do a Whois to find the registered owner of the domain,
  4. I buy new instead of buying ink. It is more cost effective this way. Better printe for the price of ink refills. If the price of gas goes up anymore I might look into this for my autos also, LOL. M

  6. Along the power supply line.... Unplug all usb devices that are not needed. unplug you cd rom(s)/dvd rom(s)/floppy drive. This will drop the power consumption from these devices. In the mean time try to find a power supply to swap just for troubleshooting purposes. M
  7. by defauly most routers are plug and play, meaning it will assign ip addresses to the machines it sees. you can set the ip addresses of the machine manually if you want to log in to the remotely. check to see if the router you want to connect to does port forwarding, vnc and some other remote connect software requires port forwarding. kinda got off the subject. look to what you want to do later before you buy now. M
  8. I have an odd named folder on my C:, mine appears to be a log of an install from msxml.msi. I left it.
  9. Sorry I should be more specific. The other machines are open source routers with ntp client built in. I don't want all these machines trying to sync with servers outside our network, this will reduce the traffic through the gateway to the internet. M
  10. I am looking for a NTP server application I can run on an XP machine so other OSes on the network can use to keep updated time. My plan is to have a ntp client on machine 1 to check for updated time. Then the ntp server will have the correct time for the other machines on the network. M

  15. Jeff, I would think you will be close @ ten years. In 10 years there will still be 32bit machines still running, so if that is the case you can use that arguement and say you were right. Hell put a script in the forum to bump this thread to the top, and in ten years we will see. M
  16. That is something to think about. M
  17. The Husband Store A store that sells new husbands has just opened in Boston , where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates: You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the product increase as the shopper ascends the flights. The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building! So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first flo
