In my reply legal was the fact that the ISP(s) usually have it in the terms of service that you will not share your connection with others. There are two ways to look at this. 1- It is mine I pay for it! Yes but you also agree to the terms of service. If you are on a resellers plan with the ISP then you do what you want with your connection - under those terms of service. 2- I just plugged it in and thought it was secure?! Wrong! Getting on a residential or business wifi connection that is unsecured is illegal. Getting on a connection set up for customers is not. M

Hotspots come in two flavors....Free and pay. Free well some may have pop ups or banners. Pay hotspots take your credit card info and you choose the amount of time you want. I know with many the clock starts the first time you log in and keeps running until the time runs out. Meaning if you buy 12 hours you can't go there 1 hour for 12 days. M

I think it is fair. Stay away from pop up ads unless it is really good for you and the boards. Hp has a pop up survey, it is supposed to be for them to learn what worked for you during you visit. M

If the laptop is new it will have built in wireless. Most cities will have a hotspot someplace. A google search will provide links to tools to wardriving. I don't promote this, but it happens. Many folks have unsecured access points in their homes. Most hotels any many McDonalds have wireless internet available also, pull in to the parking lot and connect. I would contact his cell phone company and look at an "air" card from his provider. I run cleanup or ccleaner before scanning. I don't get those impressive numbers, but then I don't have to wait for the scanner to scan all those extra files. M

The ink in new printers are less than a cartridge but with the amount of printing I/We do the one that comes with the printer is fine. Had a Lexmark z22, I would by the refills but then I would have to clean the ink from the cartridge because it would dry before we would use it. $50 for a new printer and 1/2 full ink is still better than 2 cartridges at $30 each. Pass the old printer and a couple new cartridges to the church or other non-profit and the pay off is even greater. Can't beat the feeling of doing something good. M
