Have you checked your mobo's makers websitee to see if the board is sp2 compatible. The only issues i have seen with sp2 usually involve a budget mobo and their usb connections.

Setting Up Vnc On My Computer
Parrotgeek7 replied to rezinator's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Your firewall at home is probably blocking it. -
That software is called the Shared computer Management Toolkit and is available free from MSFT. It resets everything back to a base point whenever the computer is rebooted. We use it on many public computers and it does work quite well.

Hard Drive Upgrade On A "system Restore" License
Parrotgeek7 replied to Dakota's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Try cloning the entire drive to the new hdd with Acronis, the free version will work just fine. If its going in hte same machine, just on a bigger hdd you shouldn't have to reinstall anything. -
Part of your problem is that Sp2 includes Sp1 and you already have that installed.Uninstall sp1 and then give it a whirl, make sure you remove all of your updates (thru control panal...show updates...remove etc..)

Walmart Notebook ( Black Friday )
Parrotgeek7 replied to inferiormeansme's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
With 12 months of AOHELL has to be done with it. That adds about $250.00 or so more to it... always a catch huh.. -
From your description I would first check the vid card like Liz said. Then I would check the ram and heatsink/cpu and make sure they are all well seated and the cpu doesn't have any brown spots on it. (burned) Touching a plugged in and ground p/s should discharge your static electricity. I would also try restting the cmos.

If you want it to run in dual channel mode, put it in the blue slot, if you don't care, put it in the black slot (#2)

Trydeleting the dial up account form your IE connections windows and then reboot and set it up again as a new account ( same user name/info etc) Are both pc's trying to get online at the same time? Does your ISP have a restriction against that? Have you tried the Winsock XP fixit tool posted in one of the stickies?

New Wireless Router, Need To Protect It.
Parrotgeek7 replied to Honda_Boy's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
did you change the password for the router? Most won't accept security settings with the default password. -
If it is a DSL line, which I don't think it is, but just in case, make sure you have filters on your phone jacks that are not connected to the modem.

Just use WPA, assuming your wifi card / software supportsits. If not even wep will keep most people off your network, unless they have the knowledge and desire to crack it. ( in my experience...most people will move on to an easier target, especially in a home setting. A business is a whole other deal() -
Harddrive Memory Wont Show Up Properly

Install sp1, that should solve your problem. -
I Just Need Support 2:39 Update
Parrotgeek7 replied to TheTrueDarkOne's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
It sounds more like a driver issue then a virus, especially since you can do most things in safe mode. I would suspect a video driver is causing your problem. Delete the current driver and then reboot and see if it will reinstall. -

Parrotgeek7 replied to rjmiller15's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Its very common to have to click stop job several times. And removing a printer an adding it back in are / is as easy as falling off a log. -
