  1. Yeah, glad I can use regular and get reasonable mileage and that Dallas is laid out circle and spoke so I can generally make a circuit to get things done rather than a bunch of back and forth. Still, I doubt I could reduce my consumption below what it is already. I think it is about $2.89 for regular . 2. Well, A couple weeks ago I sprayed the back alley with Ortho construction site once a year weed killer. They cite you and fine you here in Dallas if weeds grow in unpaved alleys behind your house, even dead end unused abandoned ones like ours. I was planning on going back and whacking down all the dead stuff this weekend, but the guy across the alley did it for me since I had gotten his side too with the weed killer (hey , I got a bunch of the stuff on clearance for $2.50 a quart at the end of the season last year so I had enough to do mine and all the surrounding neighbors too and still have
  3. Sure wish more folks would use that convention. It makes it easier to keep track of things and avoids confusion.
  4. Still waiting for the OL to finish all her dental work. Last time I grilled (Easter) she said things were to tough to eat; so for now I am constrained to figuring out what I can make that can be mushy enough for her but not so much so that I feel totally deprived. Besides which the Pecan trees are pollinating so heavily that if you leave something outside it is soon covered in yellow dust. You can even see it drifting down off the trees. A few minutes outside and my eyes itch, and my nose stops up and I can look forward to hours of misery. So it is benadryl, pseudophed , dristan , and Advil
  5. Well I got some Porter Tomatoes planted, and Jalapenos (just did the easy way and got a couple of six packs of em at Home Depot; they actually had two plants per segment so you got twelve per six pack for $1.50 can't beat that). Planted some summer squash, zuccinni, cantelope, watermelon, eggplant etc seeds. Do not really expect any of them to amount to anything, but who knows total cost was minimal as was the time invested. Got all the transplanting in the flower beds done, planted seeds in a couple of window boxes, planted moss roses in one of those weird planters with all the little cubby
  6. Yep congratulations Jeff. I guess it is no surprise to anyone here that he can do successfully in a day what has had the folks at G4 baffled for a couple of weeks.
  7. I cleaned so much junk out of the pantry / store room that I had to borrow one of the neighbors recycle bins to hold it all (tomorrow is recycling day ) . Mainly cardboard box bottoms from cases of canned vegetables ( I bought some new shelves) and empty glass jars we had saved for who knows what reason , and empty plastic containers we had saved for the same unknown reason. Saved about a third of the jars and containers just in case I can find a use for them. But still had two 90 gallon bins of recycle including the last two weeks household output. I guess I will have to sharpen my mower

  9. You say it is a rundll32.exe error. What dll does it reference? If you cannot remember or it does not show go to control panel / admin tools/ event viewer Try to locate it , look for things with a red X If you can give the dll we can figure out what it is. It is most likely either a device driver, your antivirus , or malware (a trojan or spyware ).
  10. This week the OL decided that the Monkey grass (lirope) growing in the beds in front of the porch (we have a concrete porch about 10x30 and two feet high in front of the house with bushes at the four corners and flower beds in between. I had long since given up on annuals, and just let monkey grass take over) transplanted to the one foot wide strip between the driveway and the house on the west (hot sun here in texas) side where nothing but weeds has ever succeeded . Oh well , I dug it up and moved it yesterday. Maybe it will survive maybe not. She now wants me to get more of the bushes (nandi
  11. Yep, one of the great ideas they had was to have separate legislative, judicial , and executive branches; each to be restricted as to what it does. Now we have the executive branch legislating by decree, the judicial branch executing and legislation by implementation, and the legislative branch just trying to be yes guys . The constitution is a beautiful and sound document when followed; unfortunately we have an executive branch which seems to think that it does not apply to them and use that as justification to manipulate the judicial branch , and a legislative branch worried more about thei
  12. It looks like malware (spyware) , something which should not be there and is poorly written , running as part of IE and trying to read memory addresses it is not allowed to . Go to the Malware Removal and Hijackthis logs board and post a log for an expert to review and tell you how to remove what you have been infected with.
  13. And once you get cleaned ; go back in your antivirus and look up what you have removed. Check online to see if there are additional manual follow up steps to complete the fix. Often there are additional registry keys which may not be deleted by the standard AV scan and fix even though they should have been Either a specialized removal / repair tool is required or manual removal.
  14. Yeah, grilled over Easter. Last month I cut down a couple trees the drought killed last year, and pruned up all the others. Did the obligatory cleanup of the yards followed by a short cut to encourage growth. I have winter rye which fixes enough nitrogen for the bermuda, st augustine, fescue mix most years so all I do is mulch and haven't fertilized in years. This weekend we plan on transplanting the monkey grass (Lirope?) from the front flower beds to the side of the house by the driveway where nothing but weeds ever grows. This stuff is indistructable so hopefully it will take over there to
  15. I thought you were going to say you forgot your anniversary for a moment there. Personally, I took the easy way out, our anniversary is my birthday; easy to remember.
  16. Natural Balance Yeah , I saw that in the newspaper this morning. I saw on another board that people were recommending switching to Natural Balance since it used Rice protein concentrate instead of wheat gluten.
  17. Today , April 19th is Patriots' day ; the anniversary of the day in 1775 when the colonists tired of search without warrants and seizure of property without due process by the British troops protecting them from "rabble" who opposed taxation policies . So on this date , they made a stand at Lexington Commons and later at the Concord Bridge; thus effectively launching the American revolution. Of course, I think that looking at the actions of the current administration in their "war on terror" I think my ancestors would say that we just traded one King George for another.
  18. First off, remember that your TV unless it is a High Def model is going to be limited to standard VGA (640x480) at best and must have the refresh rate set to 60Hz. Second, most laptops have a key combo to switch from the built in display to the svideo output. It is an "either or" situation, not a dual output like having a dual head video card or two cards. I think that for your purposes you would do best with a USB video card designed for this purpose. I know they make them. Just a matter of searching. Like this [l=http://www.usbgear.com/USB-Video-Card.html]http://www.usbgear.com/USB-Video-C
  19. Did you change ISPs? Or is this an account other than with your ISP? More and more broadband ISPs no longer will allow you to send using a different mail server. If they detect email traffic and it is not going to their mail server they assume you are a spammer and block it.
  20. Does moving the display change the brightness? I have seen this on several toshibas and concluded it is probably a design flaw either a poorly placed / loose backlight mirror or polarizer or a problem with the cable from the display adapter to LCD
  21. Well, on the one hand, larger populations and denser habitation mean that there are more sociapaths and that they have greater opportunity; also I wouldn't be surprised if overcrowding is as detrimental to peaceful human social interaction as it is to laboratory rats. However I think a great part of this is the yellow journalism and political in nature. What I mean by this is that alarmist shocking news stories sell while reporting the facts as they are does not; and politicians and law enforcement want to focus on problems they can appear to be making an impact on. In past years, rape, ince

If I had known you were coming I would have told you to stop by and meet the family and help dispose of some of the grub.

Ha! Let's go outside! That's called shorts and sandals weather here, out come the motorcycles and convertibles with their tops down! Well, it was in the low fifties, barely. And it clouded up a little after noon. But the que held a steady 250 F . I put a couple aluminum foil pie pans full of hickory chips and covered with foil in under the rack on top of the lava rock (Propane grill) for some smoke. Needless to say it turned out tender and finger licking good. Pretty much all gone now. Made some killer pica de gallo with fresh white bulb onions with the greens still attached, lots of peppe

Well, for the first time in over a hundred years of recorded weather history it is snowing in Dallas in April. Yep I just went out and confirmed it, the towercam shots they had on good morning were accurate, that nasty northern stuff is falling out there. Hopefully it won't cause to much damage; all the trees already have their leaves and fruit trees have already set. The winter season grasses are still active; but the summer grass is greening up and growing. They also say that today will be a record low high temperature for the month of April.( I actually had to fire up the old Dearborn heat
  25. Remember, firefox has some useful features; like you can get the flash blocker or no script plugins, and adblock plus just adblock the flash animations ? Or with IE ; just ad their home page to your restricted zone sites list?
