Does OS X Server contain a management console similar to Active Directory, without having Windows being a server? I am looking to make the purchase's this weekend and getting this moving, but i am kinda stuck, would i need to get a server package with Windows Active directory...?

  5. Hey Murtu52, I un-installed IE6 completely from the system, and installed FF 1.03. For right now i am leaving IE6 uninstalled and have all the plug-ins that he needs to run his daily work course and visit the M$ Sharepoint website that house company uses as internal communication. With I installed FF 1.03 it need a simple active-x plugin to run the detail of the M$ site... If and When i re-install IE6, I'll post any updates to returning to default or if it happens to stay the culprit...hehe... Thanks
  6. Thanks Insipid: All the new suggestions i am going to go through. I installed FF 1.03 and it handles the Microsoft Sharepoint website that my company uses, so I don't have to re-install IE6. I may, in the future re-install it, but with the tools you gave me and the other tools that I have gather from here and other websites to remove spam and such well add additional protection. I have them all scheduled to run at different times to keep the system clean from the limewire. I un-installed it and he says he doesn't need it here...so i am good there. When and If i re-install IE6, i'll post
  7. Again at the early morning antics. Everyone has that person that is kinda the follower that doesn't know enough, but doesn't learn either...if you understand what i mean. This individual is so intrigued by the processes of networking and how to set one up, so I point him to several websites that will do the "Noobish" approach to learn how computers talk to one another, and are configured into subnetted networks, or just a standard DHCP network with no subnetting. Well this morning, the individual printing out everything (almost everything) off the website and wanted me to show him how to do
  8. What I am trying to do it just help out a few of my neighbors connecting to the internet and set up a media center for TV shows they might have missed and want recorded, but don't use DVR or VCR...I don't need to control where they go on the internet, because that is their own business, but i will be monitoring with the SonicWALL firewall i purchased and then the installed anti's apps to make sure nothing bugs the system. I wish i could remember where i read the article, but it shows that MAC has a better storage capacity and management for "media" type files. Plus, it would be a bonus to kn

  10. Yeah that's mine...I did a lot of reading when I was just a few years younger and got real heavy into Robert Frost, William Shakespear, Edgar Allen Poe, and many others, although peotry, they all tell a story, a meaning in what they saw as and in life. That is my I pay attention to what people say, write, express..."Imagination is Everything", that isn't my quote, but it came from an Anonymous Writer, who had the same infliction with life that the above writers did. Although Shakespear didn't end his life that way, the other authors commited suicide believe their personal "aura" would envlo

  12. The main detail is the chipset's and managability. I am a little familar with the file structure, meaning directories and such. I know how to attach it to my network, and I am sure i will have to adapt new programs with it, but I want to try and run the Mac as a Server. sometype of file/application server. I don't have any servers at my house and run them in a workgroup setting, but i am starting to offer my neighbor wireless access to my network and want to offer some file management for them and kinda start a descrete business...if you know what i mean. And with that, I want the Apple M

I want to add a Mac machine, but am way to far unfamilar with the orientations that mac uses, if that makes sense. I was looking at this one:Apple Store---Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5. I need some insight on mac's. 4 years ago i was using a powerbook G4 which was the x-girlfriends, but haven't touch anything close to mac since...and want to get back with it to be better well rounded on my computers skizzzllles....LOL...Thanks

  18. This is also posted in the Hijack Log forum, because at first it was a hijacking issue with the IE browser. Now it has developed into something more. If anyone can add assistance please do so, and I thank you very much for any guidance you can give me...
  19. the company i work for is a Aircraft Repair Company. The computer i ran Hijack on is one of the directors of Maintence. He is one of the big guys in the company. His IE browser is really acting weird. I ran the anti's yesterday to clean it and removed serveral different items. Here is what the browser still looks like though Button, Icons, LINKS, and Pictures are about 35% bigger than they normally should be when the TEXT SIZE (under View) is at smallest. When at medium, a single avatar sized picture will take up the whole browser window. The typed text on a web page that isn't a hyperl
  20. Well it is definitely a cognitive to learn that entertainment can be found in the most real and unreal (the internet) environments, although the internet is very much real. I once started writing a book about my high-school choices and lifes development and future consequences when I was 17. I haven't given up on writing the book or stopped writing it for that matter, but the full-time job is slowing things down a bit. They say a good book is anywhere from 10-15000 words, without doing a rough guess, I should only have to create a end for the book and then I can work on making it published,
