  3. Hi Optimus and welcome to the forums! Son once had a problem like that with a game (don't remember which one). It ran flawlessly for years and all of a sudden it started acting up, just like yours. Ended up being a Mcafee Firewall Update not playing nice with it. We discovered this by going to the forums at the game's website where there were plenty of kids complaining about it. It DID get fixed a couple days later after another Mcafee update. Sooo, check out Counter Strikes site's forums to see if anyone else is complaining of the same problem. Do what the experts tell you to do here, t

    Armless Girl

I've seen armless folks do so many amazing things, but that is REALLY amazing! Good for her! Liz
  5. You're an Art Major, DD? I was, too! (a hundred years ago) You'll have to tell us all about your classes! Good for you for getting a Mac. The very first time I tinkered on a "modern" (non DOS) computer, it was a Mac and I (yes, I) actually understood how it worked! Only reason I use Windows now is because the kids school stuff is all windows, and Macs are too expensive for poor ol' me. But someday when the kids are gone, I'm getting a Mac! As far as a word processor thing, Daughter is a writer and likes MSWord ONLY because that's what she learned on so she doesn't have to think about the

    More Tips

LOL at you guys! Shoulda gotten online earlier today! Love the tips, Marty, and yes, we need translations on a few but thank you nonetheless! Like Pete, I'm a bleacher, much to Hubby's dismay (he hates the smell of bleach, I don't care, he can suffer!) I'm betting blue is bluing. Do they still make that here? I've heard the banana trick before and it's a good one--there's a good reason why suntan oil smells of coconut and banana. Also, place banana peels on the soil around rose bushes. In no time they turn brown so you can't see them and roses LOVE the phosphorus from the banana peels. P
  8. That infuriates me to the point to where I've backspaced and corrected my typing about 20 times! Football players have always gotten away with everything just because they're football players! Son played HS Soccer and later assistant coached the HS team and it gets me so mad that every other Fall Sport is considered a "Bas*ard Child" to the almighty football team. I HOPE the parents come forward to insist on a proper, speedy punishment (although I doubt they will, I certainly would, but I'm the "meanest mom in the world"!!) or the coaches will bench these players (same thing, doubtful) A bro

    Who Needs Adoc

Wow, Marty! Copy, paste, email to MYSELF, too! Thanks! And with vinegar, I've heard it is also an excellent weed and grass killer AND a great deodorizer: 2 bottles peroxide 1/4 cup baking soda 1 tsp liquid dishwashing soap Mix and Apply to whatever is stinky (if you have a spray bottle handy, it works great), let dry, vacuum up residue from the baking soda. Mix this just before you use it, if you store it, it will "explode" Got this recipe from our Vet when Sandydog got "skunked" (sponge on and keep away from critter's eyes) and it works on everything..pretty good on skunk...skunk really nee

    The Hot State

LOL, Robroy....yup that's where Michigan comes in handy. Point to the hand and say "right here". Good one, Marty. Sending that to my Florida relatives. I can't relate to it, but I don't like the weird looking bugs that tailgate in cars that come up here from Florida. Thank goodness they don't survive our winters. One sad thing...my sisters in Florida don't let their toddlers play outside due to fire ants! They tell me fire ants can kill a small child! Poor kids. When they come up here for vacation, those kids are playing outside from sun-up to sundown! No dangerous bugs up here, unless

    Michigan

Ah ha, the noggin's still working, I thought you were from Livonia, DB And seeing as you're a "Southerner", I'll define what you didn't understand Boatpeople=tourists who haul or sail their boats from Chicago to the Marinas up here for the Summer (most are snobs!) Fudgies=Folks who vacation in N. Michigan, particularly the UP. Gotta eat fudge when you're in the UP (mmmmm....Maple Walnut is the best!) Yooper=Now, I'm sure you know what this is, but for others' benefit, one who lives in 'da UP Trolls=Those who live South, or under the bridge Liz

    Getto Lingo

Love it, Marty! Quite a few of them sound Yooperish (Michigan's Upper Penisula, or the UP/"Yoopee" has it's own unique dialect) Liz
  13. I've seen it but gotta say thanks, Flatiron, deserves to be showcased again! I bet the guy had a blast making it! Liz
  14. If we had AC, it would be one of those days where we would run both the heat and the AC in the same day! Was warm and humid, then a coldfront went through this afternoon, getting ready to put the sweatsuit on. I hate the "Fall nip" in the air....winter's too long up here! Liz

    Bagpipes

Agreed, such a beautiful, haunting sound. AND they are one of the most difficult instruments in the world to play Liz
  16. Good for you, too, Hondaboy. Although many Moms DO get shoved into this tech thing kicking and screaming because if the idiot box breaks, the child wails, "mommmmmmm". From another mom, thank you so much for teaching your mom! Liz

    Michigan

Designing a Halloween Costume so it will fit over a snowsuit. Living on the West Coast means living on the Lake Michigan shore (while pointing at your hand) Knowing the definition of Boatpeople, Fudgies, Yoopers and Trolls EH! Now, I thought a Michigan Left Turn was when you had to turn right on a divided road, drive a little bit and turn onto the road going the opposite way, OR turning right, turning left at the next intersection, turning around in a parking lot and turning right. DB, forgive me if I asked you this already (because I'm thinking Livonia?? But my old brain isn't sure) Where in
  19. What you could do is to find a nice laptop on Newegg and have the customer come to your shop and show the webpage to him. If he likes it, you could help him order it. You likely won't make any money off it (I'd personally give you a tip/finders fee if I were the customer!) BUT that customer will remember the extra effort you made for him and not only use your services in the future but also recommend you to others! Liz

  21. Whoa! I grew up near O'Hare and if I ever saw a plane fly that low, I'd probably be grabbing the nearest child and hitting the ground! Beautiful photos, thanks, Jdoors Now off to look at that site Liz

    Computer Woes

Great news, Jdoors, glad you got it fixed! You can do a repair install on 98? I didn't know that, I thought the only option was a reformat/reinstall. Remembering that one incase the Possessed Gateway acts up again!! I also love XP and hoping Vista keeps getting pushed back as we might have to buy another idiot box this Fall for Son. Can only imagine what the extra hardware for the extra eye candy is going to do to the price of computers! Only kink about upgrading to XP is that it needs at LEAST 256 gigawatts of Ram and 512 is recommended, and I think there is a processor requirement, too. L
