  1. I have been working on several Windows 7 PCs that the people installed IE10 on. They were very happy when I removed it and rolled back to IE9. By the way Oracle is sneaking a bunch of crap in with it's newest Java updates. You need to uninstall several programs and reset IE to default.

Why? What didn't they like about it. This is the first MB that I have seen anybody say that they have done this.

  2. Hi

    sceeter32

I am suspecting that your computers system files may have been corrupted for some reason which is preventing windows explurorer to run normally. Do you have any antivirus installed on computer? Some virus can corrupt system files. Try to do a system restore.

I for the life of me can't figure out why people think that System Restore is a miracle worker. Lots of times it does way more harm and makes things harder to figure out and get straight than it is worth.

  3. Saw that this morning but thought i'd just let it lay ! Mabey Brian had a brain fart ........ lol

I thought that thing was from like 2012 - My Bad hehehehe - But I usually LOATHE any sites that say you can "watch anything" for *free* Most times, loads your PC with Garbage :(

    Brian

They meant to say Free Garbage. Got to read between the lines.:P

  4. Couldn't figure out a way to use the Fix-it-now tool in a user account.

Unrelated (or so I thought), in Control Panel/Action Center I had a notice that Skype reported issues with IE so I should update to the latest version (which I only JUST installed Skype anyway so ... I guess I just happened to get the last version).

Google Groups works now, but Twitter does not.

Google Groups threads will load (and faster than usual too ... hmm), but Twitter will not load anything beyond the first items that display on the page.

At least I don't hate Chrome quite as much as I used to because I am forced to use it every day. It still does stupid stuff that IE has done better for years, but I'm learning workarounds (and it does have a few things I actually like - though nothing Earth-shattering).

My IE also shows a problem with Skype. It is up to date. Must be a quirk in IE or Skype that they don't like one another. :o

  5. Just received word today that Marty passed away. He was doing bad and then got better then had problems. We never met, but did chat several times on Google Chat and we e-mailed one another several times a day.

  6. Hello Everyone,

I'm naive user for Window 7 operating system, please help me how deal with temp file in window 7?

    Thanks in advance!

Open up IE (Internet Explorer) click on Tools/Delete Browsing History and put a check in all the boxes except Passwords. Click Delete and it will delete everything. Give it a few seconds and a pop up window will appear at the bottom of your screen that says IE has finished deleting the selected browsing history. Then X out of the pop up.

If using another browerser, look at the other post.

  7. Have you tried resetting the Router? There is a little button that is recessed on the back of it. You will need a paper clip or pen or pencil to push it in.

Press the Reset Button for about 30 seconds with minimum power utilizing any pointed objects to make contact with the button.

Once the Reset Button is launched, the indicator lights in the front panel of the router will blink for about 3 to 5 times. This suggests that the configurations have been restored to their factorydefaults.

  8. One hard drive is an ATA/IDE from an old Thinkpad P4 laptop, the other is from an HP Pavilion dv4-1435dx it was really sad to see this last one fail :( it had a problem with the screen after a year which was past its warranty, and although the computer seems to power on just fine, it´s impossible to see or distinguish anything at all within those random color waves.

Connect the laptop to your TV. Then get a Thumb/Flash drive and download the pictures to it. Should be good to go then.

  9. For some dumb reason XP doesnt defrag automatically while Vista and of course 7 do

That wasn't a feature of XP. You can set it up to do it in Task Scheduler. Just remember that a HD only last so long and every defrag eats into the life of it. I would say that probably most of the people don't need to defrag but maybe once every 6 months or longer. Things like checking e-mail and surfing the web don't do a lot of fragging. When you delete an e-mail, the next one in will write over the top of where the deleted one was. This makes defraging often a thing of the past. I have my main PC that hasn't been defraged in XP for over a year. When I look at it it says not necessary.

  10. I did a sytem restore, cause of the fact the tabs on the bottom were empty (never let a teen on your screen as administrator on a new pc). Anyway, ever since then, FF won't open, and I can't uninstall it. I tried safe mode, that didn't work either. I found a couple of links online, but they are broken. I did a search here, and didn't find the topic.

    Thanks!

SYSTEM RESTORE is NOT a cure all. You should ask for help and use SR as a last resort.
