  1. Well, I got 450.00, and I am killing the disk and reinstalling windows. I do not need the copy of windows, so I think I am just going to give it to him. I trust the guy... (Famous last words) Thanks for all your help. @xxkbxx "a mid range system" ouch. XXX, Xindi
  2. @shanenin By windows tax, do mean I should give a discount because the machine is running windows...
  3. So the Flat Panel by itself is about $100. Hmm. The mouse is a Logitech Trackman, the Keyboard and speakers are Dell. I think I will ask 450 and be willing to drop a bit. I am a horrible haggler, so I will probably end up selling it for $350. Will let you know what he says. Is it illegal for me to leave Photoshop CS2, Premiere, Indesign, Flash, Dreamweaver and MS Office 03 on there for him? Do I have to erase them, also? Thanks!
  4. I have posted this at twit, also, but wanted to see what everyone here thought... I have an interested buyer, however I am not sure what to ask for my PC. It is a (copying from the documents): 2003 Dell Dimension 4600 Pentium 4 2.8GHz 757MB RAM 64MB GeForce4 MX Graphics Card with TV-Out 250GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) (WD Caviar) 15 Ultrasharp FP Monitor 48x/24x/48x CR-RW Drive 48X Max Variable CD-Rom Drive 3.5 Floppy Intel Pro PCI NIC Card Keyboard, speakers, mouse, etc Any suggestions? I have taken excellent care of it, it is my baby. I hate to let it go, but... Thanks!
  5. Ok. There is an apartment. There is a laptop. What do I need to do to set up a wireless connection for the laptop without using any other computers? How would I set up the access point? Thanks!
  6. I have not backed up for about 5 months! EEEK That serves me right...
  7. thanks! CHKDSK could not complete, mentioning 1 or more unrecoverable errors. I tried SpinRite, and nothing. I am going to have to reformat.
  8. Jeepers - thanks! How long did that take you?
  9. But what would happen if I deleted my c: partiton?
  10. Thanks, JSKY, but I have tried that, and it does not worked for me - When I chose R, I get the recovery console and Access is Denied, and I have already explained above what happens when I try to choose "To set up Windows XP now" Thanks for your response. I am about to the point of reformatting.
  11. Does that mean that Setup is not detecting a Windows XP installation?
  12. nope, same results. Right after pressing F8 to agree to the terms, etc, that partition choice screen pops up. Do you think I should delete the c:partition?
  13. hmm... Right after I pressed F8 to agree, the very next screen was the partition screen. I do not remember pressing ESC, but let me reboot and see what happens this time, making certain I do not do that. ...
  14. @terrorist Part one worked just fine. I followed the steps, but when I get to part 2, I do not see: "Now select the operating system you wish to repair, if as in most occasions there is only one, the just press "R" to continue." I see something regarding the partitions, with no option to repair. It asks me to choose which partition (FAT or C:), delete a partition, or create a new partition. I am unable to create a new partition. Should I try to delete the c: partition? When I attempt to choose the c: partition, I get this: This partition is either too full, damaged, not formatted or formatted
  15. @xxkbxx sorry about that, I went back and did it without the recovery console, and now I have to choose the partition. Shall I choose FAT?
  16. @xxkbxx When I try to do the repair install, I am told that Access is Denied.
  17. When I restarted, I did not see delete. I pressed delete, and the computer is now at a blank screen. If I press F2, I go to the Setup screen.
  18. I am not sure how to attempt that, or how to tell if it allows me into the bios at startup. How may I check? Thanks Marty
