If your still using avast, then it would be the firewall slowing down the computer. If you look in my article about slow PC's, you'll se the bit about "old hardware new software". It's probably best to uninstall it untill you get a faster computer. I've just upgraded myself but all the technology is new now. Next year when Windows 7 is released is the best time to upgrade as there is a new CPU chipset (no more 775 sockets), new ddr3 ram (most people are on ddr2, your probably on ddr1), and everything is SATA now -hard drives and DVD drives (you'd still be on the ribbon IDE cables). Uninstall t

What exactly is wrong with your comptuer? Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version of Java components and upgrade the application. Beware it is NOT supported for use in 9x or ME and probably will not install in those systems Upgrading Java: Download the latest version of Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 11. Click the "Download" button to the right. Select your Platform and check the box that says: "I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement.". Cli

Hi, Could you tell me the exact problems you are having. Thanks

i haven't used Windows 2000 in quite a while now. In XP and Vista there is a Security Center in the Control Panel. There might be the actual program in control Panel with some configurable options. Or you could look in add/remove programs to see if its installed. As long as you have an Anti Virus program running in the task bar and stay away from Malware, you should be ok. If someone is going to hack your computer, there is not much you could do anyways (as Windows 2000 is failry old nowadays, theres probably quite a few unpatched holes). Most of the time it's just a spambot or something runni

I have never had to use combofix on my good machines. I wouldn't want to. I don't need to. I sometimes have heavily infected test computers and I still dont need to run it. If you have to run combofix on a machine because you've downloaded or done something, you clearly dont know what you are doing (in respect to fixing computers) in the first place. Hence the reason why people come here for Malware Removal and we ask them to use it.

1. Close any open browsers. 2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. 3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it: Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe When finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt which I will require in your next reply.
-
We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix * Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.
