Ps/2 Keyboard Not Working In New Computer

I can only think of one of two things that can be causing this issue. keyboard isn't securily connected, or maybe the motherboard is bad, this could include the BIOS chip itself. did the mobo come with a BIOS utility disk? and did you try starting the machine with that disk in place so that the BIOS is updated properly? -

it appears that you ran this log in safe mode or you disabled items using msconfig, could you please post a fresh Hijack this log, making sure that everything in msconfig is set to normal startup. to do this, click on start>run in the box that pops up type msconfig and choose the button that says normal bootup. reboot your computer and then scan and post the hijack this log. -

Free-webmaster-resource= has a forum as well as some great tutorials on Flash, if you have the programs. in the forums there is more than just flash help, you can get help on SEO{Search Engine Optimization} as well as general Web design help. Another place for resources is Pixel2life.com has great tuts on just about every program out there.

not yet, however that is one of my priorities on this project. I will be looking over the code, and then I will make mods where necessary to make it work. I know the main code will be in mousedev, but I gotta figure out where, I also plan on downloading the latest DSL and looking at it's source, once I have verified that the mouse works in it. I may just try a Hybrid module crossover, making the DSL module supply the info for the new kernel install.

i'd say you found your answer. They are correct, with the fact that Windows XP home will not password protect a shared folder. -
another thing I got thinking about, make sure the IDE cable is connected to the hdd properly, your system could be trying to load the second disk as primary rather then slave based on where the IDE cable is connected.

Glad you were able to figure that out, Just so you know, when using a combo editor like that it is always a good thing to make sure you are in source code mode if you are putting the source in completely. streamlining the system, getting all my equipment to work, only having modules I will use. for example: With the base ubuntu 5.10 you get bluetooth support, I have removed that module from my rc.d files since I don't use, or plan to even own, bluetooth compatible items. And there are plenty of other modules that load, and "run" after bootup that I don't feel I need to have an operating system. I know there are a lot of modules I don't need or use. This won't be for general release, only for my computer. Probably the only thing I may submit to them would be the compatibility for the GE optical

kewl, Ubuntu uses GRUB. and I know where the vmlinuz is. would I be able to use the sources from synaptic, 2.6.12 or do you think I would be better off working with the newest stable release 2.6.15?

i would try it with the pin in place, also check to make sure the BIOS recognizes it as a slave drive. Also, is this on your computer your getting the BSOD or the machine your making for your friend?? oh, and I'm moving this to the PC support forum. better chance of getting more ideas/answers there then in OC.

ok, as most of you probably know I am goign to attmept to compile my own kernel. but I got one little problem. how do I go about getting everything I need? I know I need the kernel source, and the modules, are all the modules seperate or do I they generally come with the Kernel source? And where would I get them? Any and all input greatly appreciated. This is something new for me, so be prepared for a lot of questions throughout the process.

well, thats it, I did a lot of researching into this today, It turns out to be a kernel issue. First I'm going to try the new kernel see if it works, if not, then I will take the original Kernel and figure out how to recompile it and make it work. It just doesn't make sense that the mouse works fine on some distros, but not all of them. It's got to be a programming glitch.

I do not think a usb adapter would even make a difference. If it was a usb mouse i may have thought the problem would be a usb module not getting loaded; that is not the case. I am not sure how much control the Deskop enviroment(kde, gnome) has over the mouse, but you may want to see if a different one works(it might give you ideas). so far it seems it works fine in KDE desktop. it's just gnome that isn't liking it. I was able to try it on kde desktop in a livecd of ubuntu and it works. I do not think a usb adapter would even make a difference. If it was a usb mouse i may have thought the pr

well that didn't work, didnt' screw up X but still no mouse usage. Maybe I should see about getting the source files and doing a little comparing to the mousedev on DSL to Ubuntu. then recompile the kernel. I know thats going to take a while to do though. especially since I'm not familiar with bash and really dont' have any idea on what I'm doing. It will make an interesting learning process though.

didn't get a chance to do that yesterday, however I know jcl's suggestion won't work, now that I think about it, because I go to move the mouse adn that's when the optic laser goes out. I still will try the xorg.conf change to see if that works, hopefully I will get a chance to check that today.

I reboot mine after every update, also I dual boot between windows and Linux so thats not an issue
