When he made the partition he said that it aked, if he wanted to use all of the space available on the disk and make the partition active. he said y and enter, so I'm pretty sure it is active...

I'm not sure TT, How would he know?? and the drive is a fujitsu

Howdy tenmm, Hope you had a great Christmas.... I will call him and ask the name of the drive, all I know is it is fairly old and that is about it...lol... I forgot to add that, yes we did create a new partition before trying to format..

Howdy everyone!! Hope everyone had a great Christmas and soon Happ New Year.... Trying to help my brother format his pc, over the phone 1200 miles away...lol... We fdisk and deleted partitions and then restarted, at the command prompt he typed- format c: and it said unknown command or something like that.. I have no clue why it is doing this and just was wondering what I'm doing wrong? it is for windows 98.... Thanks

If I were you and all else falls, I would just use the 95 cd, format your drive, install 95, then as soon as it is installed, install xp. If you do that then you should be alright, and have pretty much a clean slate.

Hi guys/gals, Well I did it this time, I was palying in the registry and now I have no icons in the right side of the Taskbar, I kind of like it but I don't like it at the same time, so I think I need to change it back if it's possible. What I was meaning to do was take away the security pop up in xp that says my xp firewall is off and that stuff, but I changed a few things and now my icons are gone ...
