The current situation at MySpace is not the greatest. They are seriously in trouble and need to refocus and reposition themselves. I just published this article which outlines the current situation and the problem at hand as well as what I think MySpace should be doing to get back on track. I'd love your thoughts! Leave a comment here or on the post (or both). MySpace Flounders, Facebook Marches On CrunchBase InformationMyspaceInformation provided by CrunchBaseB

New Google Service Helps Find Dodgy Advertisers

It's seriously about time they got on this issue. Good for Google. B -
Last week, there was a discovery that Apple apparently downgraded the SATA hard drive interface to 1.5 Gbps in the latest 13" and 15" MacBook Pros when compared to previous-generation MacBook Pros running at 3.0 Gbps. While users were unlikely to max out the 1.5 Gbps transfer rate unless they had installed an aftermarket fast solid state drive (SSD), there were still concerns about Apple's decision to scale back the interface speed (as well as a number of rumors as to why they did it). Apple today addressed the issue with the release of MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.7, which allows the new

Yes, it's true. This morning I experienced my first iPhone launch. I woke up at 5:20AM to get ready and go to the Apple store at my local mall to pick up my new iPhone 3G S. You can read about my interesting experience in my blog post (link below): http://www.besttechie.net/2009/06/19/i-exp...-iphone-launch/ B

I wrote this open letter today which I aimed towards all current and future search engine startups. http://www.besttechie.net/2009/06/17/open-...ngine-startups/ I'm curious to know your thoughts on the topic! Feel free to post them here or as a comment on the blog post itself (or both if you want). Also, feel free to Digg it if you like it: http://digg.com/tech_news/Open_Letter_Atte...Engine_Startups or retweet it using the retweet button on the top right of the post. B

Saw this on Macrumors this morning: http://www.macrumors.com/2009/06/16/multi-...ps-due-in-2010/ Assuming they are going to be available in 2010, I would assume, we will see the next generation of the iPhone with a multi-core processor. That would be really awesome! Name? iPhone 3G Sx2? B

If they do release an iPod Touch with a camera it won't be this summer. It will most likely be in September. My reasoning for this is because Apple always does a "Back to School" sale from June to September when they give away free iPod's to students who purchase a Mac. Shortly after the sale is over they announce new iPod's. I guess it's a friendly way to get rid of old inventory. B

Nice! That's awesome! Nice work. B

Yeah, I think they're awesome as well. I'm really loving the Lost In Stereo clips! I'm going to see them in concert on July 13th so it should be a lot of fun. B

Tomorrow is the release of the new All Time Low single "Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don't)" and I'm really excited about it. A few months they released the first single called "Weightless" from their new album Nothing Personal which is coming out July 7th. I'm going to embed both singles below and curious to know your thoughts on them. They're a pop-rock/punk band, by the way. A post on TechCrunch today points out that YouTube is now rolling out a new form of advertising. YouTube users are probably accustomed to seeing ads overlaid in on the bottom of a partner videos, but now, YouTube is experimenting with allowing users to select (currently only on a small percentage of videos) the option of watching one “Promoted Video” (a video someone is paying for YouTube to promote) at the beginning of the clip, or choose to see a few different in-stream ads throughout the clip. I personally would prefer to watch a pre-roll ad (at least assuming it's a longer video) then hav

A little follow up: I got the CrunchBase widget implemented with a little custom BBCode! See here: http://www.besttechie.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=18625 All you need to do is use the following code: [crunchbase]company name here[/crunchbase] So for example, I did [crunchbase]Twitter[/crunchbase] to get that. This is useful for any post on the forum where you talk about a particular tech company. The custom code will work in all the forums. B

As many Facebook users knew last Saturday, Facebook allowed users to claim their own vanity URL's. However, not everyone was able to get their desired name. On the other hand, some people picked some pretty interesting URL's. Were you able to get the name you wanted? CrunchBase InformationFacebookInformation provided by CrunchBase

Twitter is the very popular micro blogging site that has even made its way into the mainstream media. Do you use Twitter? If so, what do you use it for? If not, why don't you use it? Let's get a good discussion on Twitter going as our first post in the Web 2.0 forum! CrunchBase InformationTwitterInformation provided by CrunchBase

Hi Everyone, It has been a while since we have added any new forums here, but, that is now coming to a end. The two new forums are called "Web 2.0" under the category "The Web" and "Tech Rumors" under the category "Updates, Alerts, and Rumors". I felt that with the web evolving so much the past few years and the whole Web 2.0 buzz term coming about it's about time we created a forum for it. I'm extremely interested in Web 2.0 and a number of the thousands and thousands of services out there. As the forum description says the Web 2.0 forum is a place to share and discuss the latest web 2.0

I challenged myself last Monday to only use Bing (no Google) for an entire week. I did it and I just published my review, feel free to check it out: http://www.besttechie.net/2009/06/11/bing-review/ B

Awesome! I hope that's a good difference. B Definitely. There used to be times that I had to hit the refresh button in Opera so the site's graphics would completely load. Excellent! B
