Brian_Holiday
I am using an ammo case for a PC project I am doing. The question is: Will I be able to fly with it? I plan on checking it, but I am afraid there might be enough nitrate residue on the case to set off the sniffers. Needless to say, this would be very, very bad. JDoors
I can't imagine it is impossible to clean the case sufficiently, just use a good solvent. But in today's climate, I would rethink traveling with an ammo case. There must be an equally good substitute available. Yeah, come to think of it, even if they are pleased there's no actual ammo in there, I assume you'll be filling that thing with wires and electronic devices. Now does THAT sound like something you want to bring to an airport nowadays? Edited August 26, 2005 by JDoors
Makai
Yeah, I'm guessing your going to set off bells all over the place.

Vile_DR
I took a trip to Ft. Lauderdale here a few weeks ago, and kept setting off the metal detectors. Removed my shoes, belt, and jewelery...then was escorted to a enclosed room (all wall no windows) and was asked to remove my pants and shirt...it is a interesting story, but turns out that my d*mn tongue ring was setting it off...Stupid Airport Police...but i wouldn't suggest the ammo case...i work at a FAA controlled airport and we can't carry Networking equipment without it being demonstrated and tagged infront of the officials and gaurds... No PVR in an ammo case. That's not how I want to get my 15 min of fame. Maybe I could squeeze one into a VCR! BH Edited August 26, 2005 by Brian_Holiday

KeithLDick
No matter what you decide to build and what kinda box you put it in.They are going to think it's a bomb of some kind because of all the wiresand other pieces of electronics inside.
isteve
UPS it to your hotel or where ever your staying. This way you don't have to worry.
JDoors
Sending it ahead sounds good to me. Even if you install it in a VCR if they 'see' the VCR they may ask you to demonstrate that it works. May be a problem if it's NOT a VCR any more.
wolfman2001
Airport security isn't known for their common sense and intelligence. I sure wouldn't give them any reason to mess with you. For most of these guys tech is a foreign tongue!
Silviya
And I have this interesting question, has anyone vacationed in boutique hotels, for example in America. They say that boutique hotels have excellent conditions for rest, and the service is top-notch even for not very much money. We are just planning to fly to Cartagena this year and they advise me to stay in one of the boutique hotels, they say that they have such an atmosphere that you relax your soul. There are a lot of places in America where you can have a great rest and stay only in the most comfortable hotels. Moreover, the service is excellent. Especially if the view from the window is simply incomparable. If you want to find such prestigious hotels, you can search for such hotels on the Internet.
Silviya
I'd also like some personal recommendations, if you've stayed in boutique hotels at least once, for example, you'll be able to tell how comfortable and indescribable it really is, as people talk about it. In the countries of America there are many offers https://cozyhotelscorner.com/category/america to stay exactly in boutique hotels, practically in all cities, even not very large metropolitan areas there are several of them. That's just and would like not to make a mistake when choosing a hotel and that everything was located nearby, all the benefits of civilization.
