A Really Weird Question

I am using an ammo case for a PC project I am doing. The question is:

Will I be able to fly with it?

I plan on checking it, but I am afraid there might be enough nitrate residue on the case to set off the sniffers. Needless to say, this would be very, very bad.

I can't imagine it is impossible to clean the case sufficiently, just use a good solvent. But in today's climate, I would rethink traveling with an ammo case. There must be an equally good substitute available.

Yeah, come to think of it, even if they are pleased there's no actual ammo in there, I assume you'll be filling that thing with wires and electronic devices. Now does THAT sound like something you want to bring to an airport nowadays?

there's gota be a way to clean it good enough but if anyone looks in it they'll thinks it a bomb or something. is there any way purposely declare it at a desk? i never fly so i don't know.

I would say no ammo case bad for air ports im in a wheelchair and went to a trip to japan and i could not send my batteries for my chair I had to call a wheelchair place in japan and rent 2 wheelchair batteries.

I took a trip to Ft. Lauderdale here a few weeks ago, and kept setting off the metal detectors. Removed my shoes, belt, and jewelery...then was escorted to a enclosed room (all wall no windows) and was asked to remove my pants and shirt...it is a interesting story, but turns out that my d*mn tongue ring was setting it off...Stupid Airport Police...but i wouldn't suggest the ammo case...i work at a FAA controlled airport and we can't carry Networking equipment without it being demonstrated and tagged infront of the officials and gaurds...

Ok, I get the hint. No PVR in an ammo case. That's not how I want to get my 15 min of fame.

No matter what you decide to build and what kinda box you put it in.

They are going to think it's a bomb of some kind because of all the wires

and other pieces of electronics inside.

UPS it to your hotel or where ever your staying. This way you don't have to worry.

Sending it ahead sounds good to me. Even if you install it in a VCR if they 'see' the VCR they may ask you to demonstrate that it works. May be a problem if it's NOT a VCR any more.

Airport security isn't known for their common sense and intelligence. I sure wouldn't give them any reason to mess with you. For most of these guys tech is a foreign tongue!
