G4 Email

i just recieved an email from g4 telling me

c.f.h

is on the way back on the air

but i cant get it any more

so that emails i might as well wipe my az

with it .

i thought i had unsubscribed from the g4 news letters

once it became a gamers site

they were like tits on a bull

no use.

im a bit peeaved about that unsubscribed

when your not really unsubcribed

as they can send you an email

when ever they want to

and i dont want there emails

i did that six months ago

i have an account at G4 that was transfered from the Tech Tv days which i used for maybe 6 posts ever. i still can't even delete my account. the last time i asked about them please deleting my account i got an email saying that they lost my account. they can't delete it cause they lost it?!?!?! can anyone explain this one to me?

Marty:

That is a good idea. Change it to a FREE email addy like Yahoo, Hotmail or whatever, and don't log into that account for more than 30 days and they are suppose to de-activate it. After they de-activate it, sign up for a new one different name, or if you can unsubscribe. Netscape also has FREE email. These are just a few.

You could always mark it as spam.

And or block the address.

Wow, I'm the lucky one here. Long, long time ago, I signed up for the TTV newsletter (you could do that without joining) and when the format changed to gaming, I just replied asking them to take me off the list because I wasn't interested in gaming. Haven't received one since.

Shortly after TTV changed to G4TTV, there were a LOT of posts from folks wanting to delete their accounts. The replies to them were,

"there is no way to delete the account. Just don't come here anymore." (another reason I didn't join!)

Marty, instead of changing your email address (that would be a pain) have you tried putting a "phony email address" in your profile? Or as Barb suggested, get a "freebie" and put that in your profile.

And as Scarlett suggested, in IE you can block the sender (don't know about the other browsers)

As I am only familiar with Hotmail and Yahoo. Not so sure about others.

Niether of them are premium accounts, BTW.

There is an option to block the sender, within your e-mail.

That's a tough one. I would just as the other posters said block the messages and label them as junk. Thunder Bird 1.0.6 has a great junk mail filter.

You have to log in to your account and make sure the email listed is the one they are sending stuff to. Then you can use the link in the email to unsubscribe.

Then once you do that, change the email to a junk one.'

it was all gaming and ime not a gamer

ok it may be alright for some but not me

i havent tried the throw away email thing .

and most spam ive used the delete from the server .

as i use outlook express.

but i need to try some of the suggestions

and ile post back on my progress .

im still chewy over the way they treated pete ,chappy .and co

so i dont want them b----g me

i should have saved the email and sent it on to the board

as i haven used hot mail before

what procedure do i need to configure.

Marty:

If you have not joined Hotmail before, open up Outlook Express and top right see if you have "Go MSN", click that, home page loads, top right click "Sign In there you will have the option to sign up."

After you sign up and are logged in, look at top for: more choices/settings/#9-send junk email away/mail/junk email protection/junk email filter. When you get there you will have 3 choices: Low, Enchanced, Exclusive. You will see explanation for each. I have mine on exclusive as you will only receive email from addresses in your contacts (address book).

Check and make sure G4 has not got into your address book, if so delete it.
