  2. Ok but so far I have heard from others not to use KDE or GNOME. I am about to give up on Linux for this since they say it will not work. I guess maybe I should just put the Microselfish on there I guess.
  3. Downloading Mandriva 2006 right now. I will just install the basic. This PC also has a CDRW drive in it so I will need to make sure to install correctly for that.
  4. well sorry I just always called it X.
  5. ok I will look into Mandriva 2006 and I was told not to use KDE due to it being bloated but I like it over gnome. Also, this PC has a CD burner in it too.

  8. well why don't you just use internet connection sharing? You can add proxy servers on your browser or just add them with programs if you must but it is going to slow way, way down.

  10. Explain to me, why in heavens name you would want to share dial up via wifi? I mean it is going to be even slower then the dial up connection you are on. I think I would suggest in to windows internet connection sharing. It is the easiest way to do it.
  11. OK I purchased a USB Print server to use in my network. I purchase a USB Pocket-Sized Print Server and it works fine in my windows machine but when I go to to look it up on my ibook, it shows an apple talk connection but I noticed it is putting my HP DeskJet 3520 as a LaserWriter printer.
  12. Not bad but I think Linux just does not have the pop looking that it could.
  13. Well I have given up here and went and got a USB print server and will live with it.
  14. I know this is not a linux screen shot but here is what I have on my ibook
  15. maybe you could see if there is a .dmp file and see if you can post that here to see if anyone can see the errors. Also I wonder if you are getting blue screens. If you are quick get the id error there and post it.
  16. Ok I did all the above and I am trying on my Windows Machine and I get nothing. It says sorry not going to do it. OK I have my server up and printer running but still can not see it on my windows box. I think the router is blocking it
  17. Ok I will get that a try, but will it show up on the windows PC? Do I not need to have some type of permissions setup? Also, what will I see when I go to the web browser on the windows machine or even on my ibook.

  22. OK I think I am going to give up here. I mean it just seems that I am waisting your kind folks time. I don't think this printer is ever going to run on this linux box. I will just have to shell out the cash for a USB print server.
