  1. Okay. Good luck in your search for another OS:-)
  2. Actually you did say that, but, I'm glad you're still with us. In the beginning you will sometimes get frustrated with Linux. Stick with it. You'll get it.
  3. A man was driving when a traffic camera flashed. He thought his picture was taken for exceeding the speed limit, even though he knew he was not speeding. Just to be sure, he went around the block and passed the same spot, driving even more slowly, but again the camera flashed. He thought this was quite funny, so he slowed down even further as he drove past the area, but the traffic camera flashed yet again. He tried a fourth time with the same result. The fifth time he was laughing when the camera flashed as he rolled past at a snail's pace. Two weeks later, he got five traffic fine lette
  4. I understand. We will be here if and when you decide to use Linux again. Your experience is a common one. At some point when you're using Linux you will be required to learn a bit more about the underlying workings of the Linux OS. That is, how to manually adjust settings at the command prompt and/or use a text editor. A graphic user interface will not always work. For future reference it is a good idea to back-up a current working xorg.conf file or at least print it out so that you can replace or fix it if things go awry.
  5. Heh-heh. Agreed. I'm 6' 4", I don't think I'd fit in that little bucket.
  6. Very cool! Nicely done, Shane! Great work!
  7. You can try to re-configure x windows. If you know the specs of your video card you can try this command. You will be prompted to answer a series of questions about your hardware. sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
  8. I agree with Pete_C. I have updated the BIOS on my PC. But, I wouldn't do it unless you *really need* to improve some functionality on your PC. In my opinion if stuff is working all right, then leave well enough alone.
  9. THE MINIMUM WAGE A man owned a small farm in Scotland . The Inland Revenue claimed he was not paying proper wages to his staff and sent a representative out to interview him. 'I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them,' demanded the rep. 'Well,' replied the farmer, 'there's my farmhand who's been with me for 3 years. I pay him £200 a week plus free room and board.' 'The cook has been here for 18 months, and I pay her £150 per week plus free room and board.' 'Then there's the half-wit. He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes abo
  10. As per your request....moving to the linux forum.
  11. Further to my last post. Heh, this is a much faster sever. Very responsive. No lag to speak of.
  12. I hope that's a good difference. B This is a faster server.
  13. Lately our local power company (BC Hydro) has been having a series of scheduled power outages for upgrades. I don't mind those too much especially when you're notified before hand. But, we've also had quite a few un-announced outages. One of our last outages was caused by an eagle hitting a high voltage line. Zap!
  14. Very nice, man:-) Running XP Pro SP2 in a VM inside Slackware 12.2. Scanning for malware:-)
