  1. Just to give you an ideal damage can occur to a hard drive it is dropped from 1/2 inch. Parts are aligned just right to turn that fast and it only takes a bump to ruin things.
  2. Oh so very true, don't play the number game on the CPU, Always do as Freidog has suggested when deciding what would work for your needs
  3. As explained somewhat in this post This post RIGHT HERE
  4. Wow you had to return one? Been buying them for years and years well them and Thermaltake and never had a power supply go bad or come bad from the manufacture.. LOL they are probably slow due to the fact they hardly ever have it happen.. Good information to know that it may take awhile for a RMA.
  5. Well Not sure if it would work or not the information i gathered said it took a special chip set and not all ram would work. first thing i would do is call that number on the page you listed and ask them what the deal was.. if they cant help you then perhaps ask them about a return and go ahead and purchase 1 of the 2 i listed that guarantee to work
  6. yup it will and would and can Antec's are solid
  7. Antec is one of the best you should have no troubles.. And by the way its not always the size a many may think its the quality of the power supply. such the performance of the rails and i assure you with what you listed a 450W from antec would power it with no trouble and have plenty of room for future upgrades
  8. Yes it would, keep in mind if possible try to get a name brand PS it may save you from headaches in the future
  9. 3 beeps Base 64K RAM failure Maximum Memory 512MB Memory Slots 2 (2 banks of 1) Base Memory 64MB removable Your Hewlett-Packard Pavilion XE743 only supports modules made with a specific type of chip. Should you find what seems to be the exact same memory elsewhere for a lower price, it is very possible that the cheaper memory will not work in your computer. 10. Looks good, would be a nice computer.. Should you get a CPU with 1MB l2 cache? If it was me and you could find one that was not that more expensive then you bet. the more on the chip itself the faster it will be.
  11. This will help you understand a little about 64 bit.. Great article that i found a long time ago. When is it faster to have 64 bits? A comprehensive look at the term "64-bit operations" reveals its chameleon-like meaning and qualifies its benefits -- and drawbacks.
  12. Okay i suggest for a cheap but a great performing laptop Averatec Fast, reliable and affordable. This laptop would work great for what you are asking but for gaming you would need to look into something else probably. You can find them at your walmart store LOL yup Walmart but don't think because they are sold at Walmart they are cheaply made. they are great little laptops. i never had to use them but i have herd the customer support is pretty good as well. I have suggested them to several people and they have not complained to me once.
  13. As lefty said PCI is not something you have to be ashamed of. PCI is still a great option if you are unable to afford the top models .things. What i would do is look into upgrading in the future so i would look for a 64bit CPU that would work with my PCI slot brd and A PCI-E so latter when i get my bucks together all i would have to do is get a new mobo and well if you have a AGP you may have to get a new card but there are mobo's that have both AGP and PCI ob them. As far as the posters ? the guys or girls LOL are correct nope you can not do so. perhaps send It back and get a mobo that will w
  14. Sempron is a slower Athlon XP (the exception goes to the Sempron socket 754 versions, which are an Athlon 64 with less L2 memory cache; these models use socket 754 pinout, thus requiring motherboards originally developed to Athlon 64, having a greater performance then socket 462 models). Originally Sempron socket 754 didn't have the 64-bit extensions available on Athlon 64, but since July, 2005, AMD introduced the 64-bit instructions on these processors. So, the socket 754 Semprons listed below can be found with or without the 64-bit extensions. The difference in performance between Sempron an
  15. Really don't think this may help your issue but when installing and installing files especially large file makes the drive really fragmented. First thing i would do is defrag the drive.

My 2cents heck i say up to a nickels worth I live in the country in the middle of a field pretty much, only house on this road and no others for about 3/4 miles away. the only trees around are at my house and the house that is 3/4 miles away. my point is when a storm passes buy it is pretty much a sure thing that lightning is going to strike my property somewhere. close to my house if not my house itself.. lived in this house for over 25 years and only once has any of my computers been affected. the damage? lost a few dial up modems.. I buy the surge protectors from Radio Shack that guarantee
  22. You need to reset the bios and reset it to default settings. you probably still have the setting that made you computer crash and need to change them back to the way they was before. then follow what prodrive suggested usually you can reset the bios back to default 2 ways 1. enter the bios and find the selection that says set to default. 2. unplug the computer, find the jumper on the motherboard (usually really close to the bios battery) set the jumper tho reset, remove the Boise battery , wait a few minutes. put the jumper back, put the bios battery back in and reboot get back to us and let
