  1. Yea, I understand it happening in iDVD but both iDVD and iMovie use quicktime to encode. If you can encode using imovie and it takes say 10 minutes but 22 hours in iDVD then we can be sure it's iDVD. But if you encode in high quality with imovie and it takes 22 hours and crashes then it may be quicktime. Also if iMovie can encode as a DVD quality then import it into iDVD and see if it works ok.

  2. I still use imovie 6 HD, don't really like 08. I'm guessing you have all the updates. I know 08 will let you work with many file types and convert and render edits when your done this can take a long time.

Can you save the movie in a high quality quicktime format without sending it to iDVD?

  3. When you install a program on a multi user mac during the install or after the first start up you should get a dialog box that ask if you want all users some users or just you to have access to the app. This will allow others to use the app but store all preferences in there user library.

I haven't needed to use Root scenes 10.2 . You should be able to su with your admin password.

I just tried to su with admin password and it said sorry. I know leopard made changes to be fully UNIX compliant but su... I'll do some looking when I get home and get back to you unless you figure it out first.

I just tried sudo -s and was able to log in.

  4. The 57 and 58 may have the same element but I'm pretty sure the 57 has a flatter response across the mids. Live it would be impossible to tell them apart but recording the 58 to me anyway sound warmer. I have just started playing in a new band the lead singer she uses a 58 and the bass player/singer she uses a 57. I still like my pro 63 for micing my amp.

As for old home audio way back in the 80's I had a sweet Onkyo setup with some Bose 301's (the american ones). The saying was "no highs no lows then it must be Bose" but I absolutely loved them.

  5. Well he won't be playing guitar hero on a mini but most new games will play fine. Some games

If your daughter ever wants to make youtube videos in stead of just watching them, imovie 08 is simple to use and is intergraded with Youtube so rendering and uploading is all done seamlessly. Also iphoto will import video off regular digital Still/movie cameras also intergraded with imovie. If you need more power imovie HD 6 is still available as a free download.

Also wait to your kids get a hold of Garageband. If any of them like music, are musicians or just want to be rap stars or podcasters they may just forget about playing games.

  6. Check codeweavers site many windows apps can be run without installing windows.

You can also just get office 08 for Mac. Before you go to far try Keynote, Pages and Numbers that come as a trial with your mini. Many people that use iwork especially Keynote never touch powerpoint again. I just use text edit myself.

You should give os x a try without installing windows first. I haven't owned a Windows machine in eight years I have never had any problems getting anything done. The Mini comes with a lot of great software but it's going to take you a few weeks to get the hang of it. I'm sure your kids will have it figured out in a day or two ;)

    RAM install

  7. Apple Records has been suing Apple Inc. every few years sense 1984. I think the last one Apple Records got a huge load of cash to end future actions.

As for option - shift -K doesn't that only work if you viewing with a Mac. I have the code somewhere that use to let the apple show up in most browsers.
