  1. From what I understand the extra 4 pins are for the PCI Express motherboards. I wouldn't connect one to the other without someone else that knows for sure says it's safe.
  2. Try here also. Hacking the Bios: http://www.governmentsecurity.org/articles...kingthebios.php
  3. It all depends on how big of pictures she wants to print out. I would think a 5 or 6 MegaPixel would be fine for your mom. Just use bozodog's web site to review a few you might be interested in and then look for the best deal on that camera.
  4. I would think that Everest is set to read either 5400,7200 and 10,000 RPMs and that is why it gave you 5400 and not the 4200. And I am not sure it reads 10,000 since I don't have one of those drives.
  5. In short from all the answers: No one here including myself knows if the Pixel Pipelines Matter. I have used Geforce for a long time. Reason: They are cheaper. Are they better? I don't think so.
  6. Other than what has been mentioned, I would be sure the Hard drive isn't full or close to it. Might want to run a HiJackThis log and Post it on the HJT forum. Go through the Add/Remove Programs and ask your friend what he needs to keep and what can get tossed.
  7. Are you wanting to set up a network? Or is the network set up and you want to know how to access it?
  8. If this is a PCI modem you might have fried that PCI slot. try another slot for the modem. My brother-in-Law had the same problem and it was the PCI slot. If that doesn't work, I would think it was the modem. If it is a External modem you can try unplugging it and then wait 30 seconds and plug it in again. Be sure to reboot.
  9. Yes, it wont let me specify a directory, only a drive letter. I even went and tried to do a subst to create a pseudo b: drive. It errored saying no disk in drive. BH <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When you say it wont, are you talking about Nero? Dont use Nero to copy the files to a folder only when you copy the folder to the CD.
  10. Have you tried coping them to the hard drive first then to the CD? Try putting them both in a folder and then transfer them to the CD, In one folder.
  11. If not sure of the temps go here. CPU scorecard As for the restarting problem have you made sure no other programs are running while using the games? Try shutting off the restart and allow for a error screen to pop up. You can do that by opening System Properties>Advanced>Start up and Recovery Settings>Take the Check mark out of Automatically restart. Then make sure Write an event to the system log and Send Administrative Alert are checked. Then apply the changes and reboot. When the error comes up write it down and post the whole error here. Could be as simple as a Driver for the
  12. Have you tried Incredimail? If you dont like Google try this. SMTP/POP3 Server <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Incredimail? It's not like Outlook or anything right? I wan't a e-mail SERVER program. Hmm, also, doesnt google have more indexed pages than msn? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There are reviews of some of the STMP programs if you look for them.
  13. Have you tried the SFC /Scanonce? Then reboot and have your OS disk in the CD-Drive.
  14. Can't be the driver, must be an older Keyboard like the others stated. Time for a new one.

    Name Change

Good to see someone can shorten their name. I would just be Lefty if it wasn't taken on everything under the sun. So 1953 it is. The original <===Lefty===
  17. Last week I showed my grandson how to catch birds using a box, a piece of string and a stick. He has caught 3 finches and one Dove which he caught this morning. I also taught him not to hold them tight and not to let them in the house. So far he is doing very well. He catches them, looks at them for 5 minutes and then lets them go.
  18. It's about as easy as the Power Supply. Just find a PCI slot that is empty and pull out the plate on the back of the PC that lines up with PCI slot where the Sound card will go. Make sure it is pushed in all the way and use a screw to attach it to the PC case. Then install the drivers for the card and then go to the web site for the card and update the driver if there is an update for it.
  19. I tried that first. Nothing happened then. But the Paperclip and a reboot worked fine.
  20. Go here Blue Screen Error Messages Scroll down to your error.
  21. Thanks for the reply, I did find the answer after a little work with the search here. I was burning all my Cd's to MP3's onto my PC and I guess the Drive just got sick of me opening and shutting it. The Paper clip worked and then I had to reboot to get it to work again. Works fine now. Thanks again.
  22. I read some where how to eject a drive when it gets stuck. Who knows this tip? And what is it?
  23. I used to enjoy watching Tech TV's Call for Help and The Screen Savers. But those days of good shows have long past and will never be as good as before. Reason: It's just like the old TV shows, Bewitched, Dukes of Hazard and others, the new shows lack the original players. You just can't replace Daisy Duke with a Blond and it be the same.
  24. The PC doesn't require you to wait for it to shut down. Just turn off the monitor and leave. If for some reason it doesn't shut down, it should hurt it. Thanks Pete for your input, I never knew the basics of shut down.
  25. I would update the graphics card drivers first. Is anything Overclocked? Do you have programs running in the back ground? Turn off any including screensavers. Try a lower setting on the game for testing purposes.
