  1. Thanks for the reply. I was in Vista......all was well. The problems started when I tried to restart and get back into XP. The XP installation was still there but I guess the bootloader was messed up. I'll probably try it again. Joe
  2. Remembering Cory Lidle Yankees
  3. ... agreed First the Yanks get bumped from the playoffs... then the Joe Torre bashing... then this. My heartfelt condolences to Cory's family and the Yankee family in general. Cory pitched in relief in game four this past Saturday. The deciding game. In fact that was his last major league appearence. This really put's a different perspective on the series for me. I met him a few times here in Phoenix during the Arizona Fall League. Realy nice guy. Very sad indeed. Joe
  4. Cory, we miss you already. Joe
  5. Bigger is the operative word, not better. And as you stated, the Stones are still going strong. That's bigger. Sure the Beatles are better writers and musicians (even though McCartney never bothered to learn how to read music...I always thought that was odd). But the Stones always had that something extra as performers. And they modeled a lot of their style on original Black music, Robert Johnson for one. So in my mind The Beatles certainly had the musicianship. But the Stones had the soul. And in pop music, I think soul matters more. We are not talking Bach or Mahler here. As far as the redh

  7. ... Gimme.................. a Break (A very decent show - many liked this show in the '80's, many did not.) . . Gimme Shelter
  8. Sounds like you had some Satisfaction, Chappy I specifically remember watching Mick and the Boys on the Ed Sullivan Show in '63 maybe? Went to school the next day and the nuns were vehemently stating how this was truly the end of the world if these sinners were allowed to be on TV. Of course that made it all the better for us sinners One of my friends at the time said that his father (who was in the music biz) believed that the Stones would be bigger than the Beatles. I always remember that. In a way, I think he was correct. Sorry the redhead didn't work out. But remember, You can't always g
  9. Marty, there's the Heard Museum right here in Phoenix. The website doesn't really do it justice, but it's a very good museum. Did you see the movie The Whale Rider? I highly recommend it. Filmed in your land. Joe
  10. Brotherly Love . incest.......(sorry, but it just seemed to fit)
  11. OK, here's the latest. I used Partition Magic to partition my second hard drive. I placed two partions on it hoping to install Vista RC2 on the first partition, and left space for a later install of Fedora 5. All went well. I then installed Vista RC2 on the designated drive and partition. Started it up and everything looked great. I looked around in Vista for awhile, got online, did the updates. I REALLY like the look of Vista! No problems with the install, everything worked right out of the box. HOWEVER......yeah.... there always seems to be one with Windows After a successful reboot back i
  12. I remember watching Keith Richards talk about Robert Johnson's influence on the Stones. Very impressive.
  13. Hey that's great!!! As far as rock goes, they ARE the greatest. I still listen to them on my iPod on my Sunday late night sprints through the park. Have a great time. Joe
  14. Thanks for the ideas. M$ states that it's VM is supportrd with XP Pro. I have Home. So I think that's out. I read on the links from Hitest that some of the XP files could get changed with a Vista seperate partition setup, although I'm not sure if that's true. I have a second hard drive on the computer in question set up as a slave. I just formatted it and am thinking that I should partition THAT drive. That way I can put Vista RC2 on it along with Fedora5 (which I also want to use). And just leave my primary drive as XP. My only issue is how to set up the second drive. Will it boot as a slave?
  15. unconscionable........yet it happens every day worldwide while us fatties (anyone that is NOT starving) sit and watch and do nothing.
  16. Another good one Marty
  17. Where's the best place to install Vista RC2 without screwing up my XP partition? Another hard drive? If so, how do I make it bootable and keep the XP drive also bootable? Or use a virtual machine? If so, what software should I use? Parallels ? Any ideas? Thanks, Joe
  18. Hi JSKY. I remember bringing in the cordwood when I was back in New England. Definately hard work. It's 96 degrees out here in Phoenix aka Hell, so I guess that means the seasons are changing from hottest to just hot. My friends are now completely moved into their "cabin" at Spearfish Canyon and are really enjoying it. Still no broadband though. I might go up there in the Spring. So what's your new job about? Joe
  19. Expresso. (I'm on my way to get one right now)
  20. I wonder how good it works if you don't have an ATI video card? Ouch, that's a replacement remote control for an existing ATI card, My desktop has the ATI DV-7500, a $200 card about 4 + years ago. No way is that what you are looking for, besides it is more about control the comptuter than what you are looking for. Marsh I don't think so. The specs state that it will offer limited control on any graphic card via a usb connection. Should be able to fast forward and pause through DVDs I would think. I might be wong though.
