Well, if you know anybody else that has an AT&T Modem, borrow it. If the modem is bad and she bought it, then she will have to buy another one anyways or stay with the slowness. Can you post a MBAM and a HJT log and let somebody look at it please. Do the logs in the Malware section.

What did AT&T say when you called them? May be a problem on their end.

Well it showed in on MS, but it won't work. Puts it in the spooler but won't print. They have now taken it off their list. It is a Lexmark X75 AIW and the disc that came with is marked X74/X75. Oh well, I guess it is time for a new one. I can still use it on my XP.

You have programs running on startup also that don't need to be running. Also, do you use a screen saver? These don't need to be running: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jusched.exe Some of the others I am not sure of as when I googled them, I see where you posted on another forum the same thing you did here.

That should not have made a difference. All my PC's have the CD as first boot and HD next. Glad that you got it. Let us know how it went.

I just tried some of them on XP and what I tried worked for the backgrounds. They are really nothing special that you can't go to Google/Images and find some nice stuff that way also.

Same mails over and over should usually be a hint that something is wrong.

Speaking as a retired Dish Network dealer, my dealer hot line was as smooth as any business could possible be. Continues as a resident user, never on hold, English speaking reps that I have the highest respect for. Zero doubt. We converted many Direct Tv customers that never went back. My experience. The HD transfer is next to impossible as Dish planned, only makes sense to mass produce movies, industry wouldn't like that. Dish does offer for a one time charge of $39 ? to use the USB port for an an external HD for additional storage. BUT requires the receiver to play back the external HD. Btw

I have a Dell and it is on board and is Realtek. Your answer about that part is wrong.

Welcome to the boards. These boards are not maned. People log on and off all day and night. We try to help as soon as we can. Please be patient... On board sound or a slot sound card. If a slot card, Shut PC off, remove card completely, turn pc back on. Shut PC off replace card, turn pc back on. Look in the device manager and see if it shows and YELLOW ! or ? by ANYTHING especially something with the sound card.

I have had Dish since the first went into business. Have had no problems with them. Brother has has had both and prefers Dish over Direct. Direct does have the NFL package that Dish doesn't offer if that is a concern. Friend went from Cable to Dish, Had a problem. Took them a couple of days to get it fixed and they gave him a couple of FREE movies for his inconvenience. When his year was up, he went to Direct and had nothing but problems. He said that the only thing that they gave him for FREE was lip service. He was gone from them in less than a month. Went back to Dish and hasn't looked back
