  1. how's the label side of the cds look? the data layer is closer to that side than the one you're working with. still, the commercial cleaning solution may be your best bet.

  9. mine's boring compared to other's here... so will save my keystrokes and your time. it's just a bit of slang i either saw or made up years ago (to old to remember which) to mean a programmer.
  10. good story, nerelda. points up a couple of things... first, always check the easy things first, even when the probability of it being the cause seems low. second, you were able to laugh about it rather than getting frustrated or p.o'd - we've all seen posts where someone is mad/whatever at the computer.

  12. winzip will let you span an archive across multiple floppy diskettes.
  13. you don't need to use a separate program to wipe the drive. when you delete the existing partition(s), make new one's and then format the partitions, you'll have effectively wiped out the previously stored files. the only proper thing to do with an infected cd is to physically break it, then throw it away. this avoids the possiblity of forgetting weeks or months later that it is infected and then putting it in the system. if there are files on it that are clean, you can first copy those to the hard drive and make a new cd.
  14. Nice info Crow... i've got mozilla 1.7 and found a couple of differences... the http.pipelining.maxrequests is default at 4 and saw no http.pipelining.firstrequest entry.
