incompatable ram sticks will do it i had one that was doing the same so i changed the ram sticks and it made the difference also hard ware drivers if corrupted will shut it off in particular the video drivers go to the device manager and right click your display device uninstall the driver then reboot your compt and see what happens there are many things can cause this problem and many are hardware related i have a cd rom and a cdwr and i connected it the wrong way on the ide ribbon connecting the master and the slave the wrong way and it did the same as yours so your motherboard

did you configure slackware your self i had slackware 12 given to me but not knowing the dos commands has made it hard to install ive had plenty of goes at it but i cant find how to partition the hard drive this silly notion of partitioning the harddrive is only another way of taking over the boot section of the mbr so the disks are no use to me no wonder slack ware is avoided by the ordinary user it is for the elite i cut my teeth on dos but linux dos is anther dimention again marty

ile look for the link i sent at the time of the pics and the article because of the southerly flow of the current it only took three months to be visable from nz they were flying tourists out to view this giant which had broken off from the antartic shelf several peices broke of on its journey about the time when the american footbal final was on the mayor of a southern [who is a witty fellow] city offered it to be built as a football stadium to play that final and i posted the pic which was doctored to look like a football stadium i was all for it as ive never seen an american foot

yes ile try and look for the press cuttings tho the press isnt reliable i think i can find it on the tvone site most of this news come throught tv chanels or i look at teletex seems more to the point in the city of dunedin they had 33 days of black frosts the city was at a stand still for that time every thing was delivered by foot when i was young a black frost was a rare accorrence so it is certainly colder now then ever not the very cold weather extremes like other countrys but consistently cold every day marty
