    Someone posted a thread on G4 to get info on how to catch someone, inside or outside his company, that got a list of people's (employees and customers) Social Security Numbers and Credit Card Numbers off this person's computer last Friday. He still hasn't called the cops. Unbelievable. I was so mad I was shaking as I wrote my response. :rolleyes:

    I was just wondering if anyone agrees with me? or if I am over reacting?

    Then there is a thread over there by someone who says he is a bank employee and wants to get help to hack into customer accounts because the bank fired the guy who did those files and he took the password with him. He thinks we should believe him, yeah right. :rolleyes:

    I responded to the second link.. The question had a paniced tone and I do believe he is hacking...not his responsibility if they fired someone....Like all said..This is a management problem and there are many IT specialists that could fix it......

    Love Football!!! Sundays are the best day of the week during the season...not into any other sports much....but love learning about computer stuff from everyone here..so I guess that's a hobby in it's early stages..

    Hello, everyone..to all my friends, and to new ones yet to be made!

    My name is Kathie, but let's not call me that. Kat will do nicely. I'm 33 years old, single (and staying that way!), with two gorgeous daughters who are 15 and 9. I currently work as the Senior Manager for three large apartment complexes in my area. This is totally different from what I normally have done, and I love it!

    Up until this summer, I was the General Manager/Comptroller of a Playground Equipment manufacturing company. Very stressful job, but I loved it. I had a bout with kidney cancer early this summer, and had a Radical Nephrectomy. I took stock of my life, and moved the girls and I to my mom's house while I was recovering. I left my job entirely at the end of the summer, and began the search for a new house and new job! Early in November, my remaining kidney decided to play a game of "let's not work properly" and I had to deal with that. As of today, I'm healthy again and things look great!

    Hmm. I love computers, music, reading..camping, fishing and just relaxing. I live in Central IL, where the snow keeps trying to pile up already this year!

    well guys iv tried both your suggestions on how to post my page of taskbar, i can view it in paint but dont know how to upload it to forum. ....FLATIRON i tried your sugg. and i have an account with imageshack but it wont load it. .... now tonite of the programs i posted as running i only have 3 running.... msn messenger...webroot spy sweeper... and norton2005 auto protect. they just keep changeing every time i bootup. ........ DAM... STAY SAFE

    Don't know about the HJT log....but as far the processes running in your system tray...I have a free version of Pest Patrol and if I run it, it will leave it in the system folder when it is complete...When you are done and close it down, it will ask you if you want to disable resident protection....As far as MSN, if you don't want it loaded at startup, there should be an option under properties or something like that to uncheck launch at startup...I you do use it while on-line and then want it to go away after chatting, there should be an exit option...

    I think this board can accept as high as, size 18, on the positive side.

    On the negative side I went as low as size -6, which works, but is too small to be of any use.

    Hi all,

    I'm, Darren and I live about 1.5 hours from NYC up in the Hudson Valley.

    Been at IBM for 22 yrs.. 17 of those years working on the manufacturing line, but now support it as a Process Engineering Tech...More of an office job and am on the computer alot to do my job. This forum has helped me greatly with my job!

    I am divorced and have a beautiful 14 yr old daughter that is the love of my life..I'm 42 years old and single.(have a partner, but no nuptuals) Love animals...My avitar is Nikki....I had her for 10 years before she passed away last year She was a beautiful and loving pal..:( ..Big animal lover...like losing a loved one....I live in an apt...so I bought her a cat to keep her company......they loved each other..so when Nikki passed, the cat was lonely and rescued another cat to keep the 1st one company....ahhhhhhhhhhhhh..

    I feel for all the pain alot of you are in...I have a torn ligament in my back, crushed disk. etc...refuse surgery, so I get the injections and they keep me able to work...I feel really lucky that they have worked so far..

    I joined the TTV forums just as the turmoil began...What a time to join huh??? If it wasn't for TymeKiller, Sultan, Il_wiccan, B, The terrorist and SOOOO many more awesome people I probably wouldn't have stuck around. Then I found this site and have loved it!!! Jeff (and his fellow mods) have done such a great job making it feel like home...So nice to be able to go to the help forums and then jump to the open chat just to chat...

    Thank you all for making me feel like part of the club....you are all great people and are so patient with my newbee questions......learned so much here!! Happy holidays to all!!! :D

    Since I have some slight drain bramage (think I lost some cells in my early 20's...I can't figure out how to use the tags when replying....If anyone has time and patience, can you walk me thru this. Like if I want to add post or reply in a larger font in color...I've tried adding the tags before, and after my text....highlighting the text etc..I know I'm missing something really easy..Thanks for your patience.....

    Not sure if you are trying to change your computer name or what...but in the link you provided, did you try this and it didn't work??

    How to Change Name and Company Information After You Install Win XP

    Start/Run/Regedit

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion In the right pane, double-click RegisteredOrganization. Under "Value data", type the name that you want, and then click OK. To change the name of the registered owner, do the following: In the right pane, double-click RegisteredOwner. Under "Value data", type the name that you want, and then click OK/Exit.?

    Not sure if this is what you mean, but you can always change it back if it doesn't do what you want...

    Edit: there is also the following, but don't know if that will help either...Control Panel> System> Advanced...at the bottom are Environmental Variables that will let you edit your Documents and settings name..Beware..I have never done this ...just noticed it while looking around...

    I use Thunderbird for my mail do to the fact that my e-mail is web based. I have optimum online...If I write a note that is too long..it times out (15 minute timeout for security reasons they tell me) so if the note is long, I have to cut it, sign out, sign back in, start a new note and paste the note I started in the first place. The other thing that aggravated me was stupid, but there was no print option and they have no plans on adding one...(Of course CTRL -P works) but it's just the point. As far as the firefox browser...only one I use unless I can't open a page in it and am forced to go to IE...Firefox automatically transfers (or saves) your IE bookmarks which is awesome too....Good luck!!

    Thanks to Nerelda for walking me thru the sig file photo. My question is that there are so many sites that will host your files for free....I want to make sure I use a safe one.. Don't want to go to a scam site...get ad ware ..bring it to the board etc...any suggestions from what you all use?? Thanks for the help!!
