I don't know what in the world happend but I can't even get to GAIM anymore. I shut down my system after following the so many different directions I went to applications > Internet > Gaim Internet Messenger. And once I clicked on it I got this messege: Cannot launch entry Details: Failed to execute child process "gaim" (No such file or directory) (What's a child process) and what did I do wrong here? Man oh man this is so confusing right now. I really do need help here. I know I might need to start all over again but I'd rather do that as opposed to not having it working at all.

Hi Shanenin I followed the directions you gave me and with success was able to enable both my Yahoo and AIM/ICQ Messenger accounts and they look wonderful now. However, when I tried to enable my MSN Messenger I received this messege: email (My Name) (MSN) Disconnected. email (My Name) (MSN) was disconnected due to an error. SSL Support is needed for MSN. I don't know what I'm doing (yet). I'm not actually good at downloading stuff in Linux unless someone walks me through it. Then I make little notes to myself so that way, should the problem occur again, I'll know what going on. So I have no idea what to do with the link.

I've got another question. I was curious as to why my GAIM Yahoo and MSN Messenger look so out-of-date?. Don't get me wrong, it works perfectly fine but it just looks weird and doesn't look the same as it does on Windows XP. On both, you can't log in as invisible and the whole set up looks really old. What can or is there anything I can do about this?

I found this site rather helpful for people who are true newbies to Linux. And I'm diggin' it because it guides you through several steps on it's own virtual terminal. <edit>hmmmm, typo on your part?...I checked the latest version of Mozilla and it's only at 1.7.12...maybe you meant 1.6?</edit>Is that the browser you're using to go to the chat rooms? If so, I'm kinda wondering why since Ubuntu installs Firefox...and that is clearly the better choice. And to add to that you can (or maybe did) install the latest version of firefox with all the plugins through automatix. Is the chatroom page giving you a clue as to what the missing plugin is? I'm almost there I think. I was able to get into Automatix and found a few plugins and downloaded those with no problem but I'm not quite sure how access them. I can find them in my file folder but I don't know how to get them to work. The messege told me that the install was complete. And I found RealPlayer too but it's not playing anything!!. I think those are the two main issues I have because the chat rooms are still telling me that I need to install plugins before I can use them. Other then that, I didn't need to drink any Pepsi today!!

tictoc I did all of the above and the updates installed with no problem and I was able to locate RealPlayer in my file browser. Now how do I extract it and make it useful? And also when I go my one of my messege boards, it's telling me Additional Java Plugins Are Required To Display All The Media On This Page. How do I go about getting that?
