I can't seem to figure out how to increase the size of some of the display fonts in firefox. I am able to chage it for viewing webpages. I am not able to make it large for some stuff, in particular: address bar, and bookmarks toolbar. I have enclosed a picture

I manually set them using this file in my /home directory. This fixed the problem. Thanks for the suggestion to adjust my gtk fonts :-)

shane@mainbox ~ $ cat /home/shane/.gtkrc-2.0
include "/usr/share/themes/Clearlooks-DeepSky/gtk-2.0/gtkrc"
gtk-font-name = "Bitstream Vera Sans 14"

I am running kde also, but I do not have a "gtk styles and fonts". Maybe I need to look harder.

Should be under control center > apperance, if not you may need to emerge gtk-engines-qt if on gentoo, and instructions here for debian package.

does firefox depend on gtk?

Yup.
