xxkbxx
I highly recommend AVERTECH laptops - I believe Newegg and other sites have them. They are high quality and they have great tech support

xxkbxx
I'm not a big fan of Toshiba Laptops - especially the satellite, I've worked with a lot of them that have had overheating problems caused by faulty hardware (I mean the motherboard, not just fans)
shanenin
I'm not a big fan of Toshiba Laptops - especially the satellite, I've worked with a lot of them that have had overheating problems caused by faulty hardware (I mean the motherboard, not just fans)that may be, but I got a pretty decent one for $500. The sad thing was it only came with a 90 day warrenty. I tried to return it becascue of that but bestbuy wanted my to pay a 15% restcoking fee, so I kept it. The only other thing I dislike about it is the horrible battery life.
Honda_Boy
try abs or alienware (unfortunately dell owns alienware but dell doesn't mess with it)

xxkbxx
I thought Gateway bought Alienware?Durn - google proved me wrong! Edited April 25, 2006 by xxkbxx
TheTerrorist_75
His price range is from $600-1200. You're not going to get Alienware for that. The Dell XPS M140 comes with Media Center which fits his requirement for watching movies and listening to music plus gaming. Plus it used a Pentium M which should give him decent battery life. naraku9333
If I had the money I would get this Acer or this other Acer for alittle more.
msdos6
The XPS is butt ugly, IMO. If you want a decent laptop that also looks good, try a Lenovo ThinkPad. They have some pretty good battery life and have hardware customization on purchase.
Honda_Boy
Alienware makes low price laptops now, they have been for about a year or more, desktops too.Alienware's Personal Laptop SelectionThe very first one comes with Media Center at no extra charge over Home.
