CsrLiz344
Everytime I try to use my floppy drive, I get this message:A:\ is not accessible. No ID address mark was found on the floppy disk.Anybody have a clue? (I sure don't).
TheTerrorist_75
Sounds like the floppy drive is dirty or floppy disk was not fully formatted.
CsrLiz344
I might agree on the dirty part, it's not letting me do anything-as soon as I insert the disk I get the error, don't get far enough to format. (Guess it's time for early spring cleaning of the pc) Thanks!
JDoors
Also relevant: How old's the drive? How often do you use it? How old's the disk?
CsrLiz344
The pc is about 3-4 years old, the floppy is never used, and the disk we tried to put in is new.
Mistabigshot
Try to replace the ribbon cable.
JDoors
S'more ideas: If XP be sure you have permission to access the drive & contents. Try booting with a floppy that has data on it -- Windows may read the disk then. Try a FULL FORMAT -- not a QUICK FORMAT. Ensure you have the exact floppy driver for your brand of drive (the Windows default driver may not work). Rather than buying a new cable, first be sure your current one isn't 'flipped' the wrong way.
MrBill
Right click on My Computer and then Left click on Properties. Then Left click on Hardware then Device Manager. Do you see any YELLOW ! or ? on the Floppy Disk? If so, you need to install a driver for it.
