hey, guys, got a fe more problems in hand.

my floppy disk failed.

i tried putting in a different floppy disk which i knew worked before.

but both cannot be detected by windows.

i tried reversing the IDE cable thinking i got it wrong,

but what happened was that the light just remained lit.

i guess that means that i put the IDE in a "backward" position.

and that also meant that the IDE was in the right position prior to reversing it.

are there anymore things i can check to see what is wrong with my floppy drive?

i guess the fact that the light remained ON when i got it backwards means that the MoBo is OK.

go to your bios and make sure the right floppy is enabled .

floppys are tempremental things.i ahd trouble with mine .and i bid for one on trade me and i won the bid .when i went to install it i inserted the original floppy and the dam thing worked.so i bought one for nothing.

make sure your drivers are up to date for your floppy and floppy controller

i presume it was working up until now maybe the floppy driver is corrupt

Hi ghorjus!

Ok, the IDE is hooked correctly since reversing it gave you a constant light on condition.

First, floppies are fragile so it could be just bad disks. Can you format a new or used floppy right now?

Is another machine able to read from these floppies?

Usually it's best to take a malfuncioning drive due to s'ware completely out (uninstall and physically remove it) then reboot without it so Windows knows it isn't there, then power off and reinstall the drive.

Upon boot up Windows should recognize new hardware and reinstall it for you.

Keep us up on this.
