So are you thinking that with me having 4 file servers and and 1 desktop and 1 labtop could be shutting down the traffic from my ISP?
-
Also, I notice I am getting in Windows, TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts. Is this also a sign of something?
-
No the log is disabled. I could enable it and see if it helps.

Yes I have 6 PCs on my network with a print server. The connection drops on all of them.

I have done all that you said before I wrote this. I have the DHCP set now to 9999 so they should never expire. I also think since I have a switch installed in there, that might also be effecting things too, or again maybe not. It said that I should be able to switch Keep Alive to 0 but it only allows for 20 here. I am wondering if there is a hack for me to setup to change that around.

OK I have a linksys WRTG54 V2.2 and I am having issues of my DSL staying online. I am wondering if Connect on Demand : Max Idle Time should be checked. The help says I should be able to put in 0 for it so it stays connected but I can only put in 1-9999. So I put a check mark in Keep Alive : Redial Period So what things should I do? I want things to not keep dropping because it is a huge pain to make sure it comes back in several seconds some times minutes.

we got logmein.com running on it and it works great, but we want to go back to VNC and get that working. People tell me that it can be done but so far it has not happened yet.
-
They are the large corp I work for. I am not to sure they are going to allow me to install this nice little thing on their $$$$ machines that control a radio station. VNC on the other hand, I am sure they are ok on that.
-
Was told that logmein.com also works but not sure if they will allow me to install it on our corp machines.

OK We have a dual monitor system in our control room and we want to use VNC at a remote site with a dual monitor setup to control that system. Is there a VNC server that allows for dual monitor send out?

No when i went to install FC6 I typed in linux boot acpi=off So I don't know if anything is something else to turn off. I will think that hidd deals with anything else but bluetooth but I would like to know for sure. you turned off acpi in your BIOS right? This only allows the MotherBoard to control ACPI, acpid lets Linux control these functions and I believe the new real time clock and hard drive functions need this to run. so I would leave it on. as for hidd, go ahead and turn it off, I don't believe it effects anything but blue tooth.. by the way this is some of the best ways to secure

I am wondering if I should leave acpid on being that I had to shut ACPI off to get the dam thing installed. I also wonder if I need hidd running since I do not have any blue tooth stuff but I think I need it.

Well anyways, is there a good place out there that will show me what services I must have on and ones that I can shut off? I would love to shut some of these things off to maybe speed this thing up a little bit.

I have a nat router, Linksys. I think I am pretty safe but if you guys think that SELinux is ok just with the default config of it, as in installed, I will leave it. I mean for the most part these are simple home file servers and maybe one day way down the road, might be web server again, maybe, then again, maybe not.
-
well these are not that big of deal but kind need to be up every day for me. so should I shut it off?
-
How do you determine production boxes? These are simple file servers that just sit there and provide file storage.
-
OK I will look into it but most times then not, I shut it off. I mean I have it shut off on my two other CentOS boxes.
-
OK Now how does one delete SELinux permenetly?
-
OK I changed the name from Shared to Storage and to a different folder and all is well. I also think turning off SELInux helped.
-
OK I put in the correct line this time and got back to the command prompt. Now I have also restarted samba. and still not working yet. I mean what is the deal?
-
Ok I ran what you said to turn SELinux off. here is the thing I got from putty. [root@localhost ~]# setsebool -P smbd_disable_trans Usage: setsebool [ -P ] boolean value | bool1=val1 bool2=val2... is that correct or what is wrong? Also, it did not help in the problem. I am not sure what the deal is but I can not write to the shared folder.

Here is mine. ; /etc/samba/smb.conf [global] workgroup = goemann netbios name = 100GBfileserver server string = 100GBfileserver security = user encrypt passwords = yes local master = yes domain master = yes preferred master = yes null passwords = no hide unreadable = no hide dot files = yes wins support = no # [printers] # browseable = yes # guest ok = yes # printable = yes # public = yes [Shared] browseable = yes read only = no path = /shared available = yes public = yes writable = yes I just copy over everything from serv

OK I did that when I setup my account. I will go back and redo it and see what happens but again that should not be a problem.

OK kids this just keeps getting better and better. I have Fedora Core 6 up and running and everything is fine up until the point that I have Samba running. I have the folder I want networked and mapped in windows but when I go to copy or put new on the drive, it says read ristriced. So I went into putty and chmoded everything to 777 but still not letting me in. Is SELinux the problem? I am going to shut it off and try. I went in and changed it to allow SMB connections.

I am wondering if you should set your nic to do full duplexing or not to? I have heard it will burn your card out fast if you put it on full duplex, is this right or wrong?
