Well I am going to start listing things here soon. I just wish I did not have to dump this ram and stuff since it is still fairly good stuff. Dam. I bought my Socket A Epox 9-KHA+ with an AMD XP 2400+, Creative sound card and Linksys NIC in a all in one deal for under $100, 5 years ago on ebay. Knock on wood it still runs fine.
-
I know and that is what is bothering me. Well looks like eBay for this stuff.
-
Well if you see something like on Tiger Direct or Newegg.com let me know. I mean I would like to keep what I got and put it back into service but if that is not going to happen then the parts go up for sale.
-
Tried to clear the CMOS, no dice. It still does not work. I think the Motherboard is DOA. Not surprising but hey it was fun while it lasted. Now to find a cheap Socket A mobo to replace it but good luck from what I hear.
-
Well I will try clearing the CMOS. Not holding out much hope here. I will see what happens. If it works great, if not the board is toast.

no errors. I get a blank screen. No beeps unless I move the memory around and then I get them. I mean this thing is going bonkers. I have not even moved the video card since I put things into this case almost a year ago or more. I mean I get nothing to show on the screen at all.
-
Is the PC working now, NO! It is DOA. I mean it turns on but that is all it does. I think the MOBO is shot. I mean it does not even boot no more. I mean I see the HD light flicker now and then but that is it. I wish I would have known this sooner. I hope my drive that is in there is ok. I want to save the PC but a new MOBO is not cheap for a socket A AMD 2800 XP+ CPU. I think I will just sell it on Ebay or something along with the ram and stuff since I have no use for DDR memory.
-
OK I think the bad memory, Centon, is going to be pitched or held onto to test further to see if it works more or less. I want to test things here to see if the kingston is also bad and if so y all of them went bad. I think things like this is unreal to have it all go bad like that.
-
Also, I took the 512MB RAM stick out and guess what, WinXP installs just fine. So I am thinking the 512MB might be the bad thing. I am going to run more tests to check things out. So don't hold out hope here.
-
OK here are two errors that I am getting. I am getting a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA and BAD_POOL_HEADER. I am getting this when I hit enter in the DOS setup of WinXP.

OK here is my PC 2 kingston 256MB RAM chips 1 Generic 512MB RAM chip 1 AMD 2800 XP+ 1 Seagate 120GB HD 1 CD/CDR burner 1 DVD Burner 1 BIOSSTAR M7NCD Pro Mobo and the PS mentioned already. I have 3 case fans

OK here is the current status. 1) moved RAM into different slots and ran memtest and all OK after 2 passes+ 2) took Power Supply back to dealer for testing and all checked ok according to them. 3) HDs are fine with the tests I have run from Seagate off the ultimate boot CD 4) have low leveled them a few times now 5) tried new cables as in IDE 6) taken out one of the HDs to see if it is a drive issue, no because it works in another system. Not sure what else I can do to fix the problem. I will try a linux install CD but I want to have this thing work and not have to purchase a new MOBO, RAM, CP
-
Well I know one thing was "_POOL"
-
Moved memory to a different slots and ran memtest and it said all is good. Now I think the IDE slots are bad. I say this as I tried to reinstall windows and got blue screened with the DOS setup. I tried to move the drives to a different IDE slot and same result. So I am thinking that the IDE is broke. But I ran tests and things from Seagate on them and all ran just fine on the drives and the MOBO sees the drives. I am getting a something POOL error each time I try to install. Is this meaning HD, Video, or what?
-
No video card is ok or I would not be getting any video. That is the only thing that I think would not go out. Sound card is is on board so why would I miss with that. I am thinking that the Power Supply that I bought back in May is taking a dump on me and if it is I will just replace it. If not I think it is time for me to get a new PC of some type. I would like to get a MAC that I can play on with Windows. so it will have to be an intel machine. any thoughts.
-
Never heard of them. It was what I could afford if that is the case that it is dying.
-
I got the 350 watt PS from http://www.ditcorp.com since they are a local store here. ALLIED 350 WATTS ATX POWER SUPPLY is what I bought.
-
I am going to try moving the slots around. I tried them all in the same slot. If they give me errors in all 3 slots, then what? I have to get a new motherboard? I mean the PS is less then a year old now. I would hate to replace it again.
-
OK gang here is a doozy for you all. Recently I had my PC that worked just fine decide eh I am not going to do that now and keeps rebooting. I ran a memtest on it and it failed but could not figured out which of the 3 sticks it was. So I have pulled them all out and running tests on them by them selves. Also, before I ran any of these tests my PC would not boot and would beep.....beep.....beep at me. So I that is when I finally got it show me a message that stopped in the POST with Verifying DMI Information or something like that. I also thought maybe my HDs were and issue so I ran the tests t

Well I just installed DD-WRT and I can not even get into my router now. I am supposing now it is a paper weight since I can't get into it now. I got into it via telnet but can't do anything with out commands. So how does one go back to other firmware?
-
Yep been there done that.
-
No see there is nothing open to the outside world. I open VNC ports every now and then but mainly not anymore since I use logmein.com for everything now. So I am not sure how people could have could have connected to the servers when there is nothing open. I have checked with other routers but so far they equal same problems.
-
hum. I wonder what is happening with my unit then? I mean I have it set like you have but my lease time is 9999 here since that is the only thing I could config it to. I have WPA2 on and all is fine there.
-
OK so what setting did you have for your Linksys?
-
OK that sounds good with the router. I will call up my ISP and see what the deal is. I think it can't be to much since there are businesses that have the same type of DSL as I do and they don't loose connection.
