    Cool.

    Compiling on that unit must be a bear. I flirted with Gentoo, made a half-hearted effort to install using Knoppix, but, became discouraged because my sound card, NIC wasn't properly identified by Gentoo. Kind of a cop-out, I know. In the future I may take another run at Gentoo. I'm glad I was able to migrate away from RH 9. Mandrake 10 likes all of the hardware on my unit, runs well.

    Very cool, jcl.

    I'm running lame-a$$ KDE 3.2 right now on my Linux box. I ran Gnome and Black Box before on my old distro Red Hat 9. Gnome and Black Box would run fine for a time then I'd get really strange video artifacts on my monitor. However, now on Mandrake 10 my unit is stable with no video artifacts. KDE works, I'm not messing with success:-)

    Is that screen shot your BSD unit or Gentoo?

    If you're curious about Linux you could try out Knoppix Linux.  It is a Live Linux CD.  This version of Linux boots completely from your CD ROM drive without the need to install anything on your hard drive.

    So you can try out Linux without messing with your Windows install.  If you want to take the plunge and install Linux I'd go with Mandrake, Fedora, or Suse.

    How and where do you get the knoppix boot cd??? do you have to download it?? also, what is the lowest file size for linux??

    You guys all have such interesting ways that you got your usernames. Mine is just plain old boring? When I was just a pup, a loooong time ago, a business acquaintance tagged me with that name as a joke and it sorta stuck. That's it... very boring ;)

    There is no such thing as consumer property any more. Your just leasing it from the record label. :huh:<_<

    What I hate is when I do buy games or movies I burn a copy of them. Stick the original in my drawer and just use the copy intil it gets scratched up acouple of months later. They call me a criminal for this. And now they're trying to make self distructing CDs and DVDs. Aparently they haven't gouged us enough. :angry:

    Agreed!!

    It should be legal to make copies of software that you've purchased for your own personal use.

    Hi everyone, I just checked out the new Mozilla site, and think it is very cool. It is definitly easy on the eyes and so simple to navigate. With all the improvements to the site, it makes one think if a new Firefox or Mozilla browser is just around the corner. I hope so, Firefox has become my Browser of choice and one can only believe that it is only getting better. :)

    Very cool site re-design!
